WILL Power is set to race on in IndyCar, with confirmation of his position at Andretti Global in 2026, replacing Colton Herta, who has been enlisted as Cadillac F1’s test driver.

The announcement is the latest in a line of off-season driver swaps to drop after the season finale in Nashville.

The first domino to fall came yesterday, when it was announced that Power would be leaving his home of 17 seasons, Team Penske.

Power’s replacement is destined to be David Malukas, who has been under contract with Team Penske since last year.

Elsewhere, Rinus Veekay has departed Dale Coyne Racing to take Malukas’s seat at the Penske-affiliated AJ Foyt Racing.

Herta, meanwhile, is headed to Europe, pursuing his dream of racing in Formula 1, with a season in F2 still a possibility.

“I just want to say how excited I am to be joining Andretti Global,” said Power.

“I can’t thank Dan (Towriss), Jill (Gregory) and the team enough for this opportunity.

“Colton is someone that I’ve been massively impressed with for a while.

“He has a lot of natural ability, and I think he’s going to do a great job over in Europe.

“I’m excited to watch him and will work to step in and do everyone on the 26 team proud.

“I’m also looking forward to driving for Honda.

“They’ve been a tough competitor, and I look forward to working with the entire HRC team.

“Also, I have tremendous respect for Kyle (Kirkwood) and Marcus (Ericsson).

“I’ve had some great battles racing against them, and I think we’re going to make a great combination as teammates.

“This is a whole new chapter for me. I have to say that sometimes a change of scenery and a fresh start is very energising. I can’t wait.”

Power, the winner of 45 career IndyCar races and a record 71 pole positions, has landed with a powerhouse squad.

Andretti Global has accumulated significant notable achievements since its inception.

Included in this are championships for drivers such as Tony Kanaan, Dan Wheldon, Dario Franchitti and Ryan Hunter-Reay, with Weldon, Franchitti, Hunter-Reay, Alexander Rossi and Takuma Sato all winning the Indianapolis 500 for the squad.

Outside of IndyCar competition, the company is involved in Indy NXT, Formula E, Super Copa and Supercars in Australia, via Walkinshaw Andretti United.

Herta, meanwhile, has been a leading light in the IndyCar series since his debut in 2018.

All told, the second-generation racer has nine wins, 19 podiums and 16 pole positions, with his best championship campaign coming last year, when he placed second for the season.
