Jadon Sancho left Manchester United on deadline day to join Aston Villa for the 2025/26 season.
When the deal was confirmed, Manchester United fans were delighted to see Jadon Sancho leave for Aston Villa, with many branding him one of the worst signings ever made by the Red Devils.
Despite United wanting a permanent deal, Sancho rejected a permanent move, meaning he has left on a straight loan. He will continue being paid his £250,000 per week salary, although Villa are covering 80% of Sancho’s wages.
Sancho was open to joining Villa for months, and he rejected several other offers throughout the summer. The window started with Chelsea paying a £5m penalty to reject Sancho.
Now that his Villa move has been confirmed, Jadon Sancho is under big pressure to get his career back on track.

After being unveiled at Villa Park, Sancho has not impressed Villa fans, with supporters pointing out that he looked disinterested in his first interview.
The 25-year-old has not made a great first impression, and he has been reminded by pundit and former Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor that his career is on the line.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor said: “For me, I look back at Jadon Sancho. At Dortmund, 158 games, 53 goals, 67 assists he got for Dortmund.
😳 “It’s make or break.”
🔥 “If he does that at Aston Villa, he won’t play.”

“Manchester United, it didn’t work out. 83 games, 12 goals, six assists. Not a great record for an attacking winger.
“Then Chelsea, only 41 games, five goals and 10 assists. His stats are obviously getting worse and worse.
“His contract is up at the end of the season, Manchester United have the option to extend by one year. It’s make or break.
“If he doesn’t put in a top season for Aston Villa, your £350,000 per week will go down to £50,000 per week at your new club.
“The problem is, Rashford is similar – one game they’re unbelievable and the next week they’re not running around and don’t fancy it. That’s been the problem with Sancho and if he does that at Villa he won’t play.”
Jadon Sancho is no longer Man United’s problem
Most United fans would agree with Agbonlahor that Sancho is at fault for his career downfall.
Sancho’s attitude problems became apparent when he entered a public feud with Erik ten Hag, and that essentially marked the end of his United career.
United ignored Sancho’s red flags at Dortmund. The Red Devils knew he had often been late and suffered with disciplinary problems in Germany, yet sanctioned a £72m deal anyway.
He will go down as one of the club’s worst-ever signings, and it seems United may not get a single penny for Sancho given he is in the final year of his contract.
Regardless, that also means he won’t be United’s issue anymore, so the club can finally move on from what has been a disastrous relationship with the winger.
