The City of Port Lincoln has released the draft Port Lincoln Walking and Cycling Strategy 2026–2036 and is now inviting community feedback.
The strategy was developed with community input to guide the council as it seeks to improve and expand cycling, walking and wheeled transport infrastructure across the South Australian municipality.
Key priorities identified in the strategy include:
improved maintenance of existing paths and bike lanes
more off-road paths and recreational trails
wider paths and separation from traffic
better connections and wayfinding signage
improved crossing points at intersections
more and better BMX and mountain bike tracks
enhancements to the Parnkalla Trail
more, safer, continuous on-road bike lanes.
The draft strategy includes a map of a proposed walking and cycling network and a draft annual capital works program.
Port Lincoln Mayor Diana Mislov said: “We want to make it easier for people of all ages and abilities – whether walking, cycling or wheeling – to get around our city and enjoy our beautiful coastal environment.
“By working closely with the community, we believe we have developed a plan that reflects local needs and priorities.”
The draft strategy is available to view online and at the council office and Port Lincoln Library.
Written submissions must be received by 10am on Friday 26 September and can be submitted via the online hub.
The strategy will be finalised and presented to the council for adoption in October.
