Nemanja Nedovic signed a one-year contract with AS Monaco, the team announced on Saturday.
The 34-year-old Serbian guard recently parted ways with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet. During the offseason, he gained interest from EuroLeague teams, leading to his decision to join La Roca Team.
“Since this option presented itself to me this summer, I honestly only wanted Monaco,” he described in an interview shared on the official portal of his new team, “I listened to other teams, but in my mind, Monaco was the best option for me at this stage of my career.”
“I want to win, and I think that at Monaco, I have the best chance to do that and to work with high-quality players,” he added, “With an excellent coach like [Vassilis] Spanoulis, who was a player until a few years ago and who understands guards particularly well. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
The Monaco newcomer also revealed a preceding discussion with head coach Vassilis Spanoulis.
“He more or less explained what he expected from me if I joined the team,” said Nedovic, “He described the role I would have within the group. He seemed very enthusiastic. When I spoke to him, I was really excited.”
“I see that he has immense passion and a great thirst for success,” he continued, “I know they were so close to the Euroleague title last year, and I see that he has this thirst to achieve the ultimate goal of winning this competition with this group.”
Nedovic is a veteran of 229 EuroLeague games, stretching from Crvena Zvezda to earlier stints with Panathinaikos OPAP. AX Armani Exchange Milan, Unicaja Malaga, Valencia, and Lietuvos Rytas. Playing in the 2016-17 edition of the 7DAYS EuroCup, he was crowned champion with Unicaja.
Beyond highlights in European club continental competitions, his 2013-14 journey focused on the NBA and amounted to 25 appearances with the Golden State Warriors.
