The man suffered significant injuries to his head and chest area and could not be revived, NSW Ambulance said.

He was employed by recruitment and labor hire business, Wymap People.

“We are saddened about the tragic accident involving a team member of Wymap People. Our sympathy and condolences go out to the family, friends, team members and broader airport community,” the company said in a statement.

Police established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police, but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services spoke with a number of traumatised witnesses, including the operator of the heavy machinery involved in the accident.

A Sydney Airport spokesman said support services were available to all staff at the airport.

“Everyone at Sydney Airport is deeply saddened by the fatal incident involving an airfreight worker earlier this morning,” the spokesman said.
