Guillermo del Toro will be seemingly everywhere this fall.
His adaptation of Frankenstein is lumbering through standing ovations at film festivals, Beyond Fest is throwing a 12-film retrospective beginning at the end of September, he’s the guest artistic director at October’s AFI Fest, and he’s putting a selection of his renown memorabilia collection up for auction.
And now he’s hitting your bookshelves.
Insight Editions is set to publish The Art & Making of Frankenstein: Written & Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the official companion book to the filmmaker’s Frankenstein movie, which is receiving a limited theatrical release Oct. 17 before hitting Netflix Nov. 7.
A look at the creative process and craftsmanship that brings Mary Shelley’s gothic classic to the screen, the tome by Sheila O’Malley is intended to give a behind-the-scenes look at the work done by the filmmaker and his cast, among them Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz.
Also showcased will be the artisans behind the movie, concept art, of period-specific props, lush locations, beautiful costumes, and insights into the filmmaking process.
The book features a foreword by Del Toro and an introduction by Isaac, who plays Victor Frankenstein.
The hardcover goes on sale Oct. 28 and will retail for $75.00. There will also be two limited collector editions that will come later in the year, Frankenstein: Portfolio Edition and Frankenstein: Artifact Edition.
