NRLW Late Mail: Round 11
Roosters v Sharks, Thursday 7:45pm at Polytec Stadium
Roosters:Â Isabelle Kelly is set for an early return from an oral fracture, with the captain named to line up in the centres. However Corban Baxter’s return from an ankle injury remains at least a week away. Kelly’s comeback will see Jayme Fressard return to the wing, with Mia Wood moving to the interchange. No changes in Wednesday’s 24-hour update with Shawden Burton the 18th player.
Sharks:Â A change on Wednesday with Nakia Davis-Welsh replaced on the bench by Jacinta Carter. Emerging forward Rhiannon Byers remained in the squad when it was trimmed to 19 and looks a good chance to return from a back injury. Anne-Marie Kiria-Ratu is also back on deck.
Eels v Bulldogs, Friday 5.40pm at CommBank Stadium
Eels:Â Elsie Albert is set to return from an ankle injury that forced her out of last week’s win over the Tigers. The skipper’s return will see Boss Kapua shift to the interchange. Parramatta need a win and a Titans loss to climb into the top six and qualify for the finals.Â
Bulldogs: Holli Wheeler has been named to start at prop but could revert to the bench on game day, as was the case in the last two weeks. Kalosipani Hopoate or Ma’atuleio Fotu-Moala would likely come into the starting side if Brayden Wiliame opts for a late switch. The Bulldogs need a big win to keep their slim finals hopes alive.Â
Broncos v Cowboys, Saturday 12pm at Totally Workwear Stadium
Broncos:Â Julia Robinson will return to the side after being rested for last week’s win over the Warriors. Shenae Ciesiolka will shift to the wing, with Hayley Maddick moving to the interchange. Tara McGrath-West is also pushing to complete her comeback from a foot injury and remains in the extended squad.Â
Cowboys:Â Jakiya Whitfeld’s return from a shoulder injury has been put on ice for another week, with the Cowboys taking a cautious approach with the star outside back. North Queensland need a win to secure a home final in the opening week of the post-season. Essay Banu has been named on the bench but could be promoted to the starting side on gameday, as was the case last week.Â
Titans v Raiders, Saturday 1.45pm at Cbus Super Stadium
Titans: Brittany Breayley-Nati, Destiny Mino-Sinapati and prop Sienna Lofipo are all on track to return for Gold Coast’s crucial final-round clash with Canberra. The Titans can secure a top-six finish with a win, but will miss the finals with a loss and a Parramatta victory. Georgia Grey has been ruled out of the match after suffering a head knock last week, with Phoenix-Raine Hippi shifting to the wing as a result.Â
Raiders:Â Hollie-Mae Dodd is on track for her first game since Round 6 after recovering from a foot injury. The English international is set to come off the bench in the only change to the side that narrowly fell to the Roosters last week.Â
Wests Tigers v Warriors, Sunday 12pm at Campbelltown Sports Stadium
Wests Tigers:Â Brett Kimmorley is preparing to coach his final game in charge and has turned to Evie McGrath to replace Caitlin Turnbull (head knock) at fullback. Salma Nour is set to start at hooker, while back-rower Montana Clifford is preparing for her first game since Round 6.Â
Warriors: Tysha Ikenasio and Laishon Albert-Jones will come straight back into the side in their return from suspension, however the Warriors have been dealt a blow with the loss of star playmaker Patricia Maliepo (hamstring). Lydia Turua-Quedley will line up at halfback, with Emmanita Paki shifting to five-eighth. Maarire Puketapu has also been ruled out after suffering a head knock last week.Â
Knights v Dragons, Sunday 1.45pm at McDonald Jones Stadium
Knights:Â Yasmin Clydsdale is set to become the sixth player to feature in 50 NRLW games when she leads the Knights out. A head knock to Botille Vette Welsh has seen Lilly-Ann White move to fullback, with Mercedez Taulelei-Siala in line for her NRLW debut. Newcastle could earn a home semi-final with a victory in the final regular season game of the year.
Dragons: The loss of Ella Koster (head knock) will see Hannah Southwell shift to the second row for the clash against younger sister Jesse. Trinity Tauaneai will start at lock, with Sara Sautia returning to the interchange after missing last week’s game due to illness.Â
