It is bad news for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The club has confirmed star Latrell Mitchell will be out for at least four weeks after injuring his quad at training.

“Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell has been ruled out of tomorrow night’s game against the Penrith Panthers with a quadriceps injury sustained at training today,” the club said in a statement.

Accessing the blog from around the world

Hello from Kyoto Japan hopefully a good game tonight

– Bailey

G’day Bailey.

Thanks for joining me on tonight’s ABC Sport live blog.

Tonight will be an interesting contest.

Can the Cowboys turn their form around and snatch a badly-needed win?

Will the Dolphins continue their magnificent scoring record at Lang Park.

What is certain is any loss at this time of year, especially when you are outside the top eight like these teams, adds an immense amount of pressure.

The big news from the Dolphins this week was Sean O’Sullivan being dropped from the side.

O’Sullivan played five-eighth last week, in place of the injured Kodi Nikorima.

Jake Averillo (number 5) will be the five-eighth after being initially named on the wing.

Tevita Naufahu (number 18) will play wing for the Dolphins.

The Cowboys are without Jordan McLean, meaning Thomas Mikaele (number 8) will be the starting prop.

Jaxson Paulo (number 2) has been recalled to the wing, in place of Robert Derby.

The Dolphins’ previous two matches at Lang Park have been try-fests.

They belted the Dragons 56-6 in round 14, and the Rabbitohs 50-28 in round 17.

That is 106 points scored in their previous two excersions to Lang Park.

Those scores are not the biggest in that time frame, with the Dolphins beating the Cowboys in Townsville 58-4, in round 15.

Dolphins coming off a loss to the Sharks

Need a refresh on the Dolphins’ match last week.

The Redcliffe-based side were outplayed for most of the contest, but threatened a late comeback before ultimately falling to 24-12 to the Sharks.

The Cowboys are struggling for form.

The Townsville-based side has just one win from their previous six matches.

The Cowboys have been competitive in their previous two matches, going down to the Storm by six points and the Bulldogs by four points.

But both of those home defeats, no matter how valiant, have put enormous pressure on their season.

The struggles of the Cowboys, especially with ball retention, is causing grief to coach Todd Payten, who said last week he was “losing sleep” over it.

Last time they met: Cowboys 4 — Dolphins 58

These two clubs met just five rounds ago, and it wasn’t even close.

The Dolphins bashed the Cowboys in Townsville, scoring 10 tries in a comprehensive 58-4 win.

Winger Jack Bostock scored four tries that night, while Jamayne Isaako was impressive with the boot, converting nine of his 10 shots at goal.

Sadly for the Dolphins, Bostock is now part of a Dolphin injury list that will test their depth in the final months of this season.

That round 15 match was deep in the Origin period, with the Cowboys missing Tom Dearden, Reuben Cotter Reece Robson and Jeremaiah Nanai.

The Dolphins were also without Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in round 15.
