The high-speed internet service will kick off construction in Cedar Park with a groundbreaking on Sept. 13.

CEDAR PARK, Texas — Google Fiber or GFiber will soon be expanding access to its fiber-optic internet service to a new Central Texas community.

On Saturday, representatives from GFiber and the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking on the company’s construction at the intersection of Aster Street and Pecan Wood Drive.

The company will offer 8 gigabit service to both residents and business owners in Cedar Park, offering no data caps, equipment fees or annual contracts to Cedar Park.  GFiber joins several other high-speed internet providers in the Cedar Park area such as EarthLink, Spectrum, and AT&T, among others.

In May 2024, the city approved an agreement to allow GFiber to install, maintain and operate its high-speed fiber optic network.

In exchange for the use of public rights-of-way, Google Fiber Texas, LLC will pay a license fee to the City of Cedar Park equitable to 1% of gross revenue.
