CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women’s tennis head coach Brian Kalbas announced Elizabeth Scotty as assistant coach Wednesday afternoon. Scotty, former Tar Heel and National Champion, returns to Carolina after spending a year at Tennessee as an assistant coach with their women’s tennis program.
In her time at Tennessee, Scotty helped guide the Vols to a 20-8 overall record going 10-5 in SEC play. Tennessee wrapped up the 2024-25 season ranked no. 10 after reaching the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals. Scotty and the Vols’ coaching staff also helped coach Elza Tomase to All-America and Honda Award Finalist honors.
Prior to her coaching career, Scotty competed on the UNC women’s tennis team for five seasons. The Annapolis, Md. native compiled an 83-16 career record and 73-16 doubles record. Scotty had one of the most decorated careers as a Tar Heel in recent years. A member of the 2023 National Championship team, 2021 NCAA Doubles National Champion, and ITA Fall Championship Doubles National Champion, Scotty left her mark on the Carolina program. The former Tar Heel looks to continue growing the program in this new role as assistant coach.
UNC women’s tennis is set to begin the fall season by hosting the Kitty Harrison Invitational Sep. 12-14 at Chewning Tennis Center.
