This week’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup a marquee game between the Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders.

Green Bay is coming off a huge, 27-13 win over the division rival Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Packers controlled that game in all three phases even though new acquisition Micah Parsons saw limited action.

Quarterback Jordan Love had a promising beginning to his third year as a starter, totaling 188 yards passing and two touchdowns. However, it was the defense that impressed in Week 1, holding a potent Lions offense to 13 points on the day.

Coming into Green Bay are the Commanders, who entered the 2025 season with high expectations. Second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels led Washington to the NFC Championship game last year while proving to be one of the best young players in the game.

The Commanders handily beat the New York Giants 21-6 in Week 1, as Daniels produced over 300 yards of total offense. However, the Packers offer Washington the first real test of the 2025 season as the Commanders want to prove that last year was not a fluke.

For both teams, this matchup could loom large for potential playoff positioning in the NFC standings, especially if both end up as wild card teams like they did last year.
