The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a picture of Prince George to mark his 12th birthday.
The photo of him smiling in the countryside was released on social media by Kensington Palace.
“Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George!” The Prince and Princess of Wales wrote in a post on X.
“12 today!” they wrote in a second post that showed the prince playing with his siblings in a video.
The first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Catherine (also known as Kate), he became third in line to the throne upon his birth.
Grandson of King Charles, Prince George is now second in line to the throne.
Traditionally, Royal Family protocol does not allow Prince George to fly on the same plane as his father with permission from King Charles III.
This is to protect the royal line.

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born on July 22, 2013 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.
George is big brother to his sister Princess Charlotte, aged 11, and Prince Louis, aged 7.
The royals often release photos of their children on special occasions and birthdays.
In May, a photo of Princess Charlotte was released for her 10th birthday.
