The fracas over who replaces Richard Goyder as chair of the AFL Commission has descended from fodder for footy gossips at half-time to a full-blown farce.

Former Collingwood boss and media lawyer Jeff Browne was the frontrunner. Then it was ex-Western Bulldogs boss and class action lawyer Peter Gordon. But former Geelong president Craig Drummond and ex-Essendon director Peter Allen (a late entrant) are still in with a chance. If this is the still the state of play by Sunday, there will be more contenders for chair than there are teams left in the season!
