Is it really a Mason Ho edit if you’re not wincing at the thought of spearing yourself on a jagged rock? The North Shore surfer has made a name for himself for (among other things) deftly handling rocky boneyards that are empty of surfers largely because they seem to be unnavigable. In his latest video, he did it again, this time on a trip to Mexico.
“In this second Mexico installment Mason Ho finds a mystical little spot to surf,” reads the caption. “It is a little side wedge, mushy wave that pushes across a few rocks and into the normal spot. Nothing too crazy, but really fun to ride and experience.”
As the caption also informs us, Ho is holding back a little with this edit, and some more significant clips that will be featuring in upcoming films. One of those is Logan Dulien’s long-awaited feature SNAPT 5: The Final Cut, which premiered at the U.S. Open in Huntington Beach in July, and is still in the process of touring around the globe. The other is Ritualistic Tendencies, the debut film from Ritual Vision, the eyewear brand helmed by Noa Deane, Mikey Wright, Harry Bryant and Wade Carroll.
