Some fans had a bone to pick with the NFL’s officials after the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Philadelphia, which has utilized the controversial ‘Tush Push’ to gain an edge in short-yardage situations, seemed to have gotten away with multiple illegal formations and false starts against Kansas City, and the league is finally starting to take notice.

According to Mark Maske, an NFL Reporter for The Washington Post, the league chided its officials for their missed calls against the Eagles and told its referees to call “these plays tight” moving forward, in reference to Philadelphia’s unconventional short-yardage strategy.
The Eagles managed to score a touchdown with an illegal version of the ‘Tush Push’ against the Chiefs in Week 2; a sequence which some fans and pundits saw as materially affecting the outcome of Kansas City’s Super Bowl LIX rematch against Philadelphia.
Stay tuned in Week 3 to find out if the NFL is serious about its commitment to perfection in officiating, or if this latest guidance will fall on deaf ears among the league’s referees.
