Roger Federer has suggested a new format in tennis that fans are incredibly excited about.
In an interview with CNBC ahead of the Laver Cup, Federer was posed the idea of a ‘Seniors’ Tour’ alongside longtime rival Rafael Nadal.
The competition would feature ex-players going up against each other, similar to the discontinued ‘ATP Champions Tour’.
Federer‘s verdict on the potential new-look format has captured the attention of many fans on social media, who are now eager to see the competition come to life.

Federer said he would consider creating the spectacle, and would name it the ‘Fedal Tour’, to which one X user responded: “Yes please!”
One fan claimed: “I’d pay to watch this any given day and twice on Sundays,” while another said: “We might get a Fedak Tour? Oh my god, can you hear me screaming and crying?”
This user wrote: “What an idea. I said years ago they could even do a tour just the two of them around the world doing exhibitions. It will sell in seconds everywhere.”
One predicted: “If Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal did a Fedal Tour, they could really change how the game is presented to fans and make it super fun, with comedic elements. It could open up tennis to new fans.”
Finally, this fan concluded: “I reckon more people would tune in than you could imagine. Especially if many retired players join up.”
Genuinely, it’s all I want in life. To see another FEDAL match.

A ‘Fedal Tour’ could be exactly what the tennis calendar needs
While there is always tennis for fans to enjoy all year round, there are periods of the calendar that could benefit from additional non-tour-level events.
From January to August, there are plenty of big tournaments on the ATP Tour, including four Grand Slams and several Masters 1000 competitions.
After the US Open, however, although there are still a number of big events, most notably the ATP Finals, the product does not bring in nearly as many viewers as it does in the first half of the year.
If the ‘Fedal Tour’ were to take place in Autumn or Winter, it could be exactly what the sport needs to keep tennis popular throughout the entire season.
