The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking it back to their formative years with this week’s set of throwback uniforms.

On Saturday, the team gave its fans a sneak peek of what they can expect to see when the Jags take on the Texans at EverBank Stadium tomorrow — sure to evoke memories of Fred Taylor and Mark Brunell, with Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell on the perimeter and Tony Boselli anchoring the left side.

Those teams were of course coached by Tom Coughlin and Jack Del Rio who combined for six playoff appearances and two AFC Championship runs over the course of a decade-and-a-half plus in Northern Florida.

Jaguars return ‘Prowler’ uniforms

The Jags’ “Prowler” set is easily the most beloved look when it comes to the team’s fans — especially with some of the unfortunate looks in the franchise’s back catalog (the mid-2010s being especially awful).

The team plans to wear the uniforms four times this season. Debuting them against the Texans before breaking them out again against the Chiefs (Oct. 6), Colts (Dec. 7) and Titans (Jan. 3-4, TBD) later this year.

The Jaguars’ decision also comes in the same week that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are breaking out their “Creamsicle” unis — making Week 3 one of the more exciting Sundays on the NFL calendar uniform-wise all season long.

Fans hyped on X

“Finally!” a user said. “Those classic Jags uniforms hit different-Sunday’s gonna feel like a time machine with touchdowns. 🐆💛”

“The sooner the throwback branding becomes permanent for the Jaguars, the better,” another commented.

“Keep it that way,” a fan pleaded.

“For the love of god please make these permanent,” another person replied.

“Our throwbacks are so much better than the regular unis, still praying on some of them black ones 🙏” another user posted.

“God that old jaguar is sexy.”

“Top 5 uni,” another fan shared.

Hopefully the new/old look can change the team’s fortunes after suffering an awful loss to the Joe Burrow-less Bengals last week.

Through two games, Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. are still trying to get their connection going and Travis Hunter has yet to really leave his mark on either side of the ball.

The Jags will be hoping to change that with a home AFC South win at 1 PM ET on CBS. They currently sit at 1-1 with a 26-10 win over the Carolina Panthers to start 2025.
