Max Dowman became Arsenal Under 21s’ youngest ever goalscorer in Premier League 2 history after finding the net in their dramatic 3-2 win against Wolves on Saturday

Max Dowman has made history by becoming the youngest scorer for Arsenal Under 21s in Premier League 2 history, following a dramatic victory over Wolves. The 15-year-old prodigy, who debuted for Mikel Arteta’s first-team last month, scored in the second half at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park, helping the Gunners overturn a 2-0 deficit to clinch a 3-2 win on Saturday.
Wolves had taken a strong lead with goals from Tawanda Chirewa and Mateus Mane. But Arsenal demonstrated true grit, launching a late comeback to secure their first consecutive victories of the season.

Andre Harriman-Annous ignited the revival with just over half an hour remaining, before Dowman completed a stunning solo run to equalise. Dowman skilfully manoeuvred onto his right foot, then switched back to his left, sliding a low finish past the keeper and into the net.
Harriman-Annous, 17, then bagged his second goal of the match, calmly converting a penalty in the 99th minute to secure the win.
This marked Dowman’s first appearance for Arsenal’s academy this season, having been involved with the club’s first team during the opening month of the campaign. He played for 26 minutes in the 5-0 thrashing of Leeds United, even providing an assist, before making a late appearance against Liverpool.
He was listed as a substitute for matches against Nottingham Forest and Athletic Club following the international break, but remained on the bench for both games.
The Gunners are set to host Manchester City in a thrilling encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, and Dowman could once again be part of the matchday squad, having made it clear to Arteta that he’s ready for more action.
However, with Bukayo Saka racing against time to be fit, the youngster’s chances of getting some game time might be diminished.

Saka, 24, hasn’t played since last month’s victory over Leeds at home due to a hamstring injury. At the time, Arteta stated that the England international would be sidelined for a “couple of weeks”.
He was absent for the trip to Liverpool, both World Cup qualifiers during the September international break, and the most recent two matches following the two-break hiatus. There have been whispers that Saka could make a comeback for Arsenal’s showdown with City, and Arteta hinted that he might be available.
When quizzed about Saka and Ben White, neither of whom featured against Athletic Club, Arteta said in his pre-match press conference on Friday: “If there is a chance, it will be after tomorrow’s session as they haven’t done anything yet, so we’ll have more information tomorrow.”
White returned to the bench for the Forest match after a knock, but he was omitted from the matchday squad for the midweek Champions League victory at San Mames due to an unspecified issue.
