Chinese basketball prospect Zeng Fanbo will sign a contract with the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, it has been reported.

The 2.11m (6 feet 11 inch) forward was expected to sign an Exhibit 10 contract – a one-year, non-guaranteed minimum NBA salary deal – with the Eastern Conference outfit, giving the Nets the right to field Zeng in the minor G League with their affiliate side for at least 60 days.

Zeng, who has been training in the United States since late August, hopes to impress in the Nets’ training camp, which begins on Wednesday, to improve his chances of winning the final two-way spot on the team.

Each NBA team are allowed only three two-way contracts – in which a player splits his time between a major league team and their affiliated minor league team – and 15 more standard contracts.

Mfon Udofia, head coach of the Long Island Nets, the Nets’ G League affiliate, spoke highly of Chinese international Zeng, who averaged 14.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 blocks in 42 games last season in the CBA.

“First of all, he’s a really good human being,” said Udofia in an interview on Sunday. “And then from the basketball side, really good skill set, can shoot the ball. Athleticism is really good.
