Andrea Doan will chair a committee to try and bring the NHL back to Phoenix.
PHOENIX — It looks like the wheels to bring the NHL back to the Valley are in motion.
On Monday, hockey insider Craig Morgan revealed Andrea Doan, the wife of Arizona Coyotes legend Shane Doan, will be named the chair of an advisory committee hoping to bring hockey back to Phoenix.
The move was made by Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chair Tom Galvin, who is also a lifelong Coyotes fan. So the new committee is a welcome step forward for Valley hockey fans.
“Andrea Doan is a longstanding supporter of Arizona hockey, and is married to Shane Doan, who was instrumental in building Arizona’s hockey legacy,” Galvin said. “She is as much a part of the Arizona hockey story over the last 20-plus years as Shane. Andrea has dedicated much of her personal life to our community and building support for Arizona hockey. Andrea’s knowledge of the industry, and her connections to Arizona and the NHL are instrumental to our mission.”
Doan described her role as a “behind-the-scenes” capacity within the committee. Additional details on specific goals the committee hopes to accomplish weren’t immediately known.
The Coyotes moved to Utah in 2023 and many fans wondered if an NHL team would ever call the Valley home again. Time will tell if this announcement will be the start of the Coyotes’ return.
