Did Tabu just take a dig at Deepika?

Deepika Padukone’s ousting from Kalki 2 has left everyone shocked. Several reports, claiming what exactly went wrong between the actress and the makers of the Prabhas starrer, are ruling headlines. A video of Aamir Khan explaining how much a production house should pay to the actor is also being linked to explain the Deepika Padukone row. Amid this, Bhumi Pednekar and Tabu have reacted to the controversy.

Bhumi Pednekar has reacted to a news report about how Deepika Padukone’s removal from the film was due to her high demands. As reported by Telugu news portal, The Aakashavaani, Deepika Padukone asked the makers of Kalki 2 to double her remuneration in comparison to what she was paid for the first part of the movie.

The publication claimed that the fee hike percentage was so high that their “eyes rolled” when they got to know about it. Besides this, it also claimed that Deepika Padukone asked for luxurious treatment for her team during the shoot. She also wanted to stick to a five-hour work shift per day. Bhumi Pednekar reacted to the report by ‘liking’ it on Instagram.

Interestingly, Bhumi also ‘liked’ Deepika Padukone’s Instagram post about starting to shoot King with Shah Rukh Khan. Meanwhile, Tabu ‘liked’ a post titled, ‘Reason Why Deepika Padukone Got Kicked Out From Kalki And Spirit’. The post included Aamir Khan’s clip from an interview, explaining how producers are not responsible for paying the actors’ entourage.

Why Was Deepika Padukone Removed From Kalki 2?

A report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that Kalki 2 makers decided to drop Deepika because she was demanding a 25 per cent hike in her fees, along with a 7-hour work shift. Reportedly, the makers attempted to negotiate these two demands with the actress, but she remained inflexible.

The same report also claimed that Deepika travels with an entourage of 25 people. Reportedly, the actress was also demanding five-star accommodation and reimbursement for food throughout the shoot for her team. While the producers tried to negotiate with her and requested her to reduce the team strength, Deepika was firm with her demands.

Kalki 2 Makers Announce Deepika’s Exit

The makers of Prabhas starrer took to their official X handle and announced Deepika’s exit from the film. The announcement hinted that Deepika is no longer a part of the project because a film like Kalki “deserves commitment”.

“This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” it read.
