DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul shared the All-time All-NBA Defensive First Team honor for the LA Clippers in 2016.
The Clippers’ 56-year history has featured 19 playoff appearances. Arguably, the most prosperous era of Clippers basketball came with Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin in the mid-2010s. That group led the Clippers on several deep playoff runs, and Paul and Jordan managed to pick up some defensive hardware along the way. Read on to see the Clippers’ First Team All-Defense honorees.
Chris Paul – 6 times (2012 – 2017)
CP3 is one of the best two-way point guards in NBA history. Paul is second all-time in both steals and assists and he’s still going. His peak came during his six-year stint with the Clippers in which he earned First Team All-Defense honors in each of those campaigns. During that run, Paul won the steals crown three times while also leading the league in assists twice.
Paul’s 2014 was particularly impressive as he led the league in both categories and finished seventh in MVP voting. Overall, Paul has seven First Team All-Defense honors in his career, which is tied for the third most in league history. Since leaving the Clippers, Paul has added three more All-Star appearances during his run with the Suns.
DeAndre Jordan – 2 times (2015, 2016)
Chris Paul and Jordan combined to give the Clippers lockdown defense both in the paint and on the perimeter. Jordan patrolled the paint and was an elite shot blocker and rim protector. In the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Jordan finished fourth and second in blocks per game while also leading the league in defensive rebounds in both.
Jordan’s efforts on the defensive end earned him three Top 4 finishes in Defensive Player of the Year during his time with the Clippers. Overall, Jordan averaged 9.4 points. 10.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks during his 10-year run with the Clippers.
