After weeks of paddock speculation, it is now official: Cam Hill will join Brad Jones Racing (BJR) next season.

Hill has been in Supercars since joining Matt Stone Racing at the beginning of 2023 after finishing fifth in his one and only Super2 season.

The Canberran is currently enjoying a career-best Supercars season, highlighted by his maiden win at the Melbourne Supersprint.

However, a recent form slump means Hill has fallen to thirteenth in the standings and outside of the points needed to qualify for Supercars’ inaugural finals series.

The announcement comes a day after BJR confirmed Bryce Fullwood would be departing the team after four years with the Albury-based outfit.

The signing also confirms that Macauley Jones and Andre Heimgartner will continue with BJR next season. The squad now has three of its four drivers locked in for its first year running the Toyota Supra, with the fourth seat (currently held by Jaxon Evans) yet to be announced.

The move marks a return to Hill’s Toyota roots, which he says was a key reason for joining the team. The 28-year-old won the inaugural Toyota 86 race in 2016.

“A big part of joining BJR is its new association with Toyota. It’s a manufacturer that doesn’t do things by halves and has enjoyed great success globally,” Hill said.

“For me, there’s already some history with Toyota. I raced in the Toyota 86 Racing Series when it first started and won the very first race. This played a big part in my career trajectory.

“I really like the culture the team emits and I’m very keen to be a part of it. Ultimately, the goal is to win the championship and I’d really like us in a Toyota Supra to be part of that.”

While grateful for his time at Matt Stone Racing, Hill said he’s already looking forward to the
challenge of competing against them next season.

“I can’t be more thankful to Matt Stone and the whole MSR team for giving me my first opportunity. We’ve done a lot together and there’s been a heap of growth culminating in our first win this year,” he said.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time racing for MSR, but hopefully we come out and beat them on-track next year.”

Team owner Brad Jones said he’s confident Cam Hill is a good fit for his team.

“I’m excited to welcome Cameron to the team for next year. He’s a proven talent in Supercars and brings a new perspective and experience to our driving group,” Jones said.

“Working through the process with Cameron and his team has been eye opening to the passion and determination they have, and has made me certain he’s a good fit for BJR.”
