Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv announces that 24-year-old Yam Madar is set for appendectomy

Yam Madar will undergo an appendectomy later today.
His status update was announced by Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
The recovery timeline is unclear, but the 24-year-old floor general is questionable to be medically cleared before the opening week of the 2025-26 Regular Season of the EuroLeague. Entering Europe’s premier club continental competition for the maiden journey, the team coached by Dimitris Itoudis will face FC Barcelona in Sofia on September 30 and Anadolu Efes in Podgorica on October 3.
Madar reunited with his first professional team last November. Averaging 14.4 points and 4.5 assists per game over 15 starting appearances in the 2024-25 installment of the BKT EuroCup, he was among the leaders in a championship run. Bouncing back in the top-tier of Euroleague Basketball, the EuroLeague Rising Star of the 2022-23 season will be adding to his current tally of 73 appearances over the three previous years with FC Bayern Munich, Fenerbahce Beko, and Partizan Mozzart Bet. The first spell with the Tel Aviv outfit lasted from 2018 and 2021.
In the 2020 NBA draft, the Israeli point guard was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 47th overall pick. He went on to appear with the C’s Summer League team in 2021, but has not yet reached further in the league based in North America.
This offseason, his international career extended to putting up 10.2 points and 6.3 assists per game over six appearances in EuroBasket 2025, helping Israel rank 14th in the final standings.
