Dayot Upamecano wants to significantly improve his financial situation. His agent had already told Bayern that early on. The situation is still unchanged from a few months ago. It’s about salary, signing-on fee, and a release clause. Upamecano’s camp points to the contracts other players (Musiala, Davies, Kimmich) received, and sees the Frenchman in a similar category as them. Bayern, on the other hand, want to continue to cut costs, that’s why the situation is currently at a standstill.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently discussed the topic of salaries and said: ‘You have to say the word ‘no’ sometimes.’
Behind the scenes, there are strong voices within the club who, out of principle, want to make a statement and simply refuse to give in to the demands. That’s why Upamecano and his camp shouldn’t be too confident that they will end up getting what they want.
