Four Gunnedah tennis players placed first while two others placed second, as they were among 21 Gunnedah competitors in the North West Champion of Champions event at Tamworth last Sunday.
Zahra Scott (U8 girls), Lachlan Finnerty (U10 boys), Millie Lyle (U10 girls) and Harry Tudgey (U12 boys) were Gunnedah’s top placegetters, while Charli Scott (U10 girls) and Sophie Neilsen (U16 girls) earned runner-up placings.
Jazmin Hobden, Adalie Muddle, Molly Murphy, Belle Nichols, Jonty Nichols and Louis Rouse placed third while Gunnedah’s other competitors were Daisy Baker, Archer Cannon, Cooper Cannon, Maggie Gardner, Aimee Hobden, Katharyn Mitchell, Allie Neilsen, Phoebe Neilsen and Jaxon Warren.
Other competitors came from Tamworth, Narrabri, Inverell, Armidale and Moree.
Next for the competitors is the Northern Foundation Champion of Champions event in Inverell in mid-October, when they oppose the top eight in each division from the North East.
From there, the top eight in each division will qualify for state.
