The streak continues for the young Pinay champ.
On Thursday, September 25, Alex Eala once again set foot in the court of the 2025 Jingshan Tennis Open in China.
The 20-year-old first WTA 125 champion from the Philippines competed against llager Mei Yamaguchi from Japan for the Round of 16 leg of the contest.
The World No. 58 player overwhelmed the World No. 268, ending the game after two sets, 6-0, 6-3.
It was nearly a same tale as her game against Aliona Falei of Belarus, who she faced off with in the first round last Tuesday. The 20-year-old Pinay was able edge out her rival also after two sets, 6-3, 7-5.
With her most recent win, Eala has booked herself a quarterfinals match against Chinese player Jia Jing Liu, whom she will take on in the match scheduled for Friday, September 26.
The Jingshan win marks Alex’s third straight tournament where she has entered the quarterfinals, following Guadalajara, where she won all the way to the finals, and the Sao Paulo Open earlier this month.
The Filipina player is also the top-seed in the tournament, as she is the only player to be part of the Top 100 in the world of women’s tennis.
