SATURDAY FOURSOMES PAIRINGS:

2025-09-27T00:05:31.726Z

SHOULD KEEGAN BRADLEY BE WORRIED?

Despite a poor first day, Keegan Bradley is keeping faith with two pairings which came up empty on Friday – Collin Morikawa/Harris English and Scottie Scheffler/Russell Henley. Will they fare any better on Saturday or is the writing already on the wall for Team USA?

Golf Monthly’s news editor, Elliott Heath has penned a story weighing up that very subject which you can read here.

SATURDAY MORNING PAIRINGS

The groupings have been announced for Saturday morning’s foursomes matches!

Here they are:

7:10am – Bryson DeChambeau/Cameron Young vs Matt Fitzpatrick/Ludvig Aberg

7:26am – Harris English/Collin Morikawa vs Tommy Fleetwood/Rory McIlroy

7:42am – Xander Schauffele/Patrick Cantlay vs Jon Rahm/Tyrrell Hatton

7:58am – Russell Henley/Scottie Scheffler vs Robert MacIntyre/Viktor Hovland

2025-09-26T22:56:09.695Z

LOTS OF GOLF LEFT

No matter which side you’re supporting, the message remains clear – this one is nowhere near over.

2025-09-26T22:18:02.880Z

MATCH TIED

Burns misses right, McIlroy misses left. In a way, that’s the fairest result.

There will be no histrionics or unnecessary drama to end day one, just a brilliant Ryder Cup match played in the right spirit until the last.

2025-09-26T22:14:33.402Z

BURNS MISSES

No good from Burns, who misses right. McIlroy now knows the line, too.

What can he produce as the sun begins to set?

2025-09-26T22:13:40.662Z

ONE-PUTT SHOOTOUT

Cantlay’s bunker shot is decent, but not good enough. The same is true for Lowry and his putt, which just tails off at the end.

Burns to go first in the putt-off.

2025-09-26T22:10:41.731Z

BURNS VS MCILROY

Cantlay produces a horrible shot to find the bunker with his second, so he’s likely out of this hole now. Meanwhile, Lowry is in no man’s land in the middle of the green.

After Burns sticks his approach to 15 feet, McIlroy drops his second to 14.5 feet. It will most likely be Burns v McIlroy to decide how this final match of the day ends…

2025-09-26T22:05:45.626Z

NOTHING IN IT

The drives are away. McIlroy is in the best place – down Broadway and furthest along. Lowry is in the left rough, but it looked as though his ball settled down, so Europe’s hopes could all rest on McIlroy.

Burns and Cantlay are nicely placed as well, although Burns is in the right first cut and will face a slightly tougher angle into the pin.

2025-09-26T22:00:03.127Z

JUST ENOUGH

Burns is arguably the best putter in the world, and he delivers when it matters most at the 17th. From 10 feet or so, he just catches enough of the left side of the hole to ensure the match stays all square going down 18. Are you not entertained?! This is amazing!

2025-09-26T21:57:46.665Z

MCILROY MAKES IT

After slow and mildly disturbing chants of “Rooorrry, Roooorryy” from the home crowd, McIlroy focuses on the task in hand and rolls his putt home. That is clutch.

2025-09-26T21:56:15.977Z

LONG-RANGE PUTTS MISS

Cantlay misses to the right before Lowry does the same. There wasn’t as much movement in that as either player thought. Over to McIlroy and Burns…

2025-09-26T21:52:11.401Z

FLEETWOOD/ROSE DEFEAT GRIFFIN/DECHAMBEAU 1UP

There was no real chance for any drama to build in the second match as Rose drains his birdie try after DeChambeau failed to hole out from the sand. The Europeans win 1up and that makes it 5-2 overall.

One match to go.

Justin Rose delivers on the 18th once again 👏#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace https://t.co/RYx6YBxJss pic.twitter.com/hQI5Tej457September 26, 2025

2025-09-26T21:50:56.634Z

NIP AND TUCK

All four players find the dance floor at the par-3 17th. Burns and McIlroy are closest for their respective teams, but Burns is in prime position.

2025-09-26T21:49:03.551Z

TWO VERSUS ONE

This is golf of the absolute highest quality. Fleetwood sticks his second shot to six feet, maybe eight, before Rose gives Europe two bites at the cherry with an approach just a couple of feet further away.

But the US team isn’t cooked. Griffin matches Fleetwood’s effort and we will have a two versus one putt-off to decide the fate of this second match.

2025-09-26T21:46:12.464Z

CANTLAY KEEPS US DREAM ALIVE

After Burns fails with his long-range try from the front edge, Cantlay tells his teammate not to worry and duly pours a fantastic putt in to boost the Americans’ hopes.

It had to go in as well, with McIlroy sinking his own birdie putt moments later. All square going to 17!

2025-09-26T21:43:05.044Z

ADVANTAGE EUROPE

In the final match, Lowry and McIlroy are opposite sides of the hole but about the same distance away. McIlroy was given the green light to go for broke after Lowry’s approach, and he accepted the invitation.

USA are up against it on the 16th green.

2025-09-26T21:40:57.339Z

STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW

Griffin, Fleetwood and Rose all hammer drives down the centre of the fairway at the 18th. Only DeChambeau is off target, and he’s in that cabbage down the right, so his chances are now fully lie-dependent.

2025-09-26T21:38:04.161Z

SHANE SENDS ONE CLOSE

Lowry fires his approach into 10 feet at most on the 16th hole, giving McIlroy free reign to attack the flag. In response, Cantlay is pin-high but about double the distance.

2025-09-26T21:36:54.278Z

DECHAMBEAU DELIVERS

It wasn’t the most convincing try from DeChambeau, but it goes in the right side and that’s all that matters for Team USA! Arms and fists rocket skywards, and the massive crowd following this group lets the Europeans know just how important that moment was.

It’s down to 18 with Europe 1up. Momentum is now with the USA, though.

2025-09-26T21:34:54.418Z

UP TO BRYSON

Rose is short with his effort from the fringe while Fleetwood also fails to give his putt a fair run at the hole from 30 feet. After Griffin’s mid-range chance sails on by to the left, it’s over to DeChambeau…

2025-09-26T21:31:48.000Z

TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS

There has been a lot of criticism online regarding NBC’s Ryder Cup coverage today, with a fair amount of praise for Sky if you’re watching in the UK. Let us know what your experience has been in the comments…

.@NBCSports should be absolutely ashamed and embarrassed with this Ryder Cup coverage. Missing golf shots when there are only 8 balls on the course, commercials flooding the broadcast, audio out of sync. Unacceptable for arguably the best spectacle in golf.September 26, 2025

2025-09-26T21:30:11.210Z

NO GOOD

It’s wide right from Cantlay – never had a chance. The bottom match continues onto 16 all square.

2025-09-26T21:29:28.808Z

TIDE MIGHT BE TURNING

After Rose and Fleetwood take the safe route into the par-3 17th, DeChambeau reminds everyone why he is absolute box office by dropping a wedge right next to the hole.

One of the Europeans will have to create another magic moment or this match will continue…

2025-09-26T21:27:50.730Z

CHANCE FOR CANTLAY

Lowry picks up his ball at the 15th, leaving McIlroy to try and make a birdie from 15-20 feet. He can’t quite find it, though, as his ball turns away at the very last moment. That was a decent putt, but it didn’t drop and Cantlay has another opportunity to steal a win.

2025-09-26T21:23:52.321Z

EUROPE GUARANTEE HALF

DeChambeau asks his ball to ‘go!’ but it doesn’t listen and Europe go two up with two holes left.

2025-09-26T21:22:08.067Z

TOMMY ROARS

Over to you, Bryson DeChambeau! Fleetwood confidently pours his birdie try in and gives a roar of delight along with a fist pump. He knows how big that moment could be.

WHAT A PUTT 😮‍💨#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/wnGg5iiJTySeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T21:20:10.471Z

SO CLOSE YET SO FAR

Rose pushes his birdie try up the hill and watches it wind quickly to the right as it nears the hole, but it doesn’t turn in time and that’ll be a par for Team Europe at the very least.

From the opposite side, Griffin suffers a similar fate. It’s now down to Fleetwood or DeChambeau to stand up and be counted.

2025-09-26T21:18:13.979Z

WILD

Back at the 15th, Lowry over-fades his second shot and pushes it into the trodden-down rough way out to the right. That will be a tough chip onto the green, let me tell you.

2025-09-26T21:16:34.226Z

SWEET SHOTS AT 16

All from roughly 150 yards, the four players involved in match two send their approach shots to approximately 15-20 feet. Fleetwood was followed by Griffin who led Rose and then DeChambeau. This will be a putt-off for the honors at 16. Should Europe win it, that will guarantee them the half…

2025-09-26T21:10:56.752Z

RAHM/STRAKA DEFEAT SCHEFFLER/SPAUN 3&2

With all the drama in matches six and eight, it’s easy to forget about Europe’s leading pair in the top match. Rahm and Straka were excellent against a dogged Scheffler and Spaun, and they’ve finally jogged over the line thanks to a brilliant eight-foot putt from Sepp Straka at the 16th.

Europe now lead 4-2 and there are only two matches left to conclude today. Which way they will go remains very much up in the air, though…

More points on the board 😍#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/j9QDiHkkYASeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T21:08:13.448Z

SHOCK MISS

This bottom match appeared – for all money – as though it was about to be flipped on its head in double-quick time. A superb tee shot at the par-3 14th from Cantlay had given the Americans a near-guaranteed birdie.

Neither McIlroy or Lowry were able to make a birdie themselves, so it was up to Cantlay to do the honors.

However. The American somehow misses from a yard and the Europeans escape!

2025-09-26T20:57:02.442Z

MATCH TIED

How on earth has that stayed up?! McIlroy pokes his ball towards the hole and it looks as though it might just catch enough of the cup, only to do a 450-degree tour of the top before staying out… McIlroy can’t believe it.

Team USA bounce off to the next hole knowing they’ve fought back from two down and have a chance to win now.

2025-09-26T20:54:45.075Z

PUTT-OFF AT 13

All four players are on the putting surface at the 13th – who will hold their nerve?

Lowry goes first but can’t dribble one down into the hole. Cantlay can, though! The American asks the question of McIlroy from six feet. If he can’t hole out, the match will return to AS…

2025-09-26T20:50:58.313Z

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO

Now it’s warming up! Scheffler sinks a long-range birdie try at the 15th, and he thinks the hole could be won with Rahm some 20 feet away. But, the World No.1 is out of luck as Rahm hammers his own birdie try into the back of the cup. The Spaniard has been sublime today for Team Europe.

Jon Rahm keeps it at 3UP with a huge putt! 😱#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/uN5CfYHHG2September 26, 2025

2025-09-26T20:48:43.678Z

ENGLISH DUO HIT THE FRONT

DeChambeau almost lights the place on fire with a MONSTER putt from the other side of the green at the 14th, but it lightly lips out!

After the noise settles down, Fleetwood calmly rocks his putter back and forth through the ball, watching it disappear for a 1up scoreline in Europe’s favor.

2025-09-26T20:45:11.889Z

YOUNG/THOMAS WIN 6&5 OVER ABERG/HOJGAARD

The first putt didn’t drop, but a tap-in second wasn’t necessary as the concession is made. Cameron Young and Justin Thomas notch the USA’s second point with aplomb. That was dominant with a capital D from Young, in particular.

2025-09-26T20:42:49.339Z

TWO PUTTS FOR THE WIN

Young has two putts to close this one out at the par-5 13th. The odds are pretty short…

2025-09-26T20:41:23.475Z

ADVANTAGE FLEETWOOD

At the par-3 14th, Tommy Fleetwood sends a dart into about the same place Spaun was not too long ago. Spaun holed that. If Fleetwood can do the same, the English pair will move 1up with four holes to play.

Don’t count out DeChambeau, though, with the Scientist down at the bottom end of the green.

2025-09-26T20:39:30.845Z

END IS NIGH

Young and Thomas are closing in on a 6&5 win over Aberg and Hojgaard. Young has been as impressive as the Scandinavian pair have been poor this afternoon.

Young is on the green while the two European players have gone cross-country.

2025-09-26T20:34:12.351Z

UNTIL THE END

Further to Cantlay’s excellent approach earlier, the purposeful American tidies up from a couple of feet to halve the deficit once again. He and Schauffele will push McIlroy and Lowry all the way, don’t you worry about that.

Patty Ice keeping Match 4 close. Cantlay & Burns 1 DOWN thru 12.#GoUSA pic.twitter.com/zCLjoh7SatSeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T20:32:54.362Z

AS YOU WERE

The second match continues to be incredibly close as Rose holes one from 12 feet for birdie. Griffin had chipped close just before, so it’s only a half. It remains all square. So good, this match.

2025-09-26T20:29:38.476Z

STRAKA SHINES

That is stunning from Straka! The Austrian has been overshadowed by his playing partner so far today, but he finds a wonderful putt from 30 feet or so up the hill at the par-3 14th. It’s a good job he did as well because Spaun made no mistake after his world-class approach.

Sepp Straka drains it 💪#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/fZqQ7h4VE3September 26, 2025

2025-09-26T20:27:34.255Z

QUALITY APPROACHES

Two different approaches. Two different teams. Same high-quality approach.

Tommy Fleetwood clips his ball into six feet at the par-5 13th to give Europe a great chance of a hole victory. Meanwhile, at the 12th, Cantlay sticks one to kick-in range as he looks to pile the pressure on his European rivals.

2025-09-26T20:24:12.828Z

HOME FAVORITE FIRING

In his wildest dreams, Cameron Young probably didn’t see his Ryder Cup debut going this well. He’s made yet another birdie putt to putt he and Thomas five up on Aberg and Hojgaard. The European pair look like they just want this to be over, they’re struggling.

2025-09-26T20:22:53.685Z

SPAUN LEADS CHARGE

At the par-3 14th, Rahm goes long and left while Straka sees his ball tumble down the slope and further away from the hole.

Spaun suffers no such issue, though, firing his tee shot hole-high and 10 feet right. Scheffler is in the sand, but it shouldn’t matter too much with Spaun in great shape.

2025-09-26T20:19:21.439Z

TENSION BUILDING

Rahm just pulls his eagle chance from eight feet at the par-5 13th and has two feet left for birdie to tie after Spaun almost holes out with a wedge from the fairway. There is no concession, despite the short range.

Rahm knocks it in anyway and the European pair stride off to the next. Meanwhile, Keegan Bradley whispers a message to Spaun and Scheffler. They’re three down with five to play, so the captain knows they must make something happen sharpish.

2025-09-26T20:13:49.696Z

NOTHING TO SPLIT THEM

At the 12th, Ben Griffin is the closest American at 25 feet. He comfortably two-putts and asks Fleetwood the question.

From the fringe, Fleetwood can’t quite replicate his earlier heroics and the two teams walk away all square once more. This second game is fascinating.

2025-09-26T20:11:34.006Z

LOWRY LOVES IT

Lowry holes out to push the bottom pair of Europeans back to two in front. After doing so, he points at an Irish flag being waved in the distance and bangs his chest passionately. That’s what it’s all about.

Advantage doubled. Shane delivers! #TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/WEdi94WteqSeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T20:08:49.765Z

WELCOME TO THE PARTY

McIlroy has really shown up for the Europeans today, but Lowry now takes his turn to all-but guarantee a hole victory for the away side. The Irishman drops a wonderful approach into the 11th from just over 100 yards, reeling it back to three feet at most. McIlroy is also on the right surface as Cantlay and Burns need hole-outs from the rough and bunker, respectively.

2025-09-26T20:04:26.327Z

USA FIRED UP

The third match is quickly getting out of hand for Europe and moving towards a first point of the afternoon for Team USA.

Thomas clips a lovely approach into the 11th, landing it under the hole, and follows up by draining the birdie putt for yet another hole win. Young and Thomas are now 4up against Aberg and Hojgaard. Neither European player has looked like holing a putt for a while now.

2025-09-26T19:57:05.131Z

CANTLAY CLAPS BACK

After McIlroy almost chips in from the left side, Burns ensures the half at the 10th before giving Cantlay a stress-free look at winning the hole from range. Cantlay duly pours it in and the Americans are only one down in the bottom match now…

Cantlay cuts into McIlroy & Lowry’s lead. Cantlay & Burns 1 DOWN thru 10. #GoUSA pic.twitter.com/O2OEmw4KGASeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T19:51:16.207Z

ALL SQUARE

The US pair make a mess of the 11th and Europe take advantage. DeChambeau tried to stab his ball towards the hole from a horrible lie, but it checked up on him and went nowhere.

From a foot or so closer, Fleetwood finds the right side of the hole with his putter and gives Rose a little nod as they make it all square.

Tommy ties it up at the 11th 💪#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/vMzqj1xBQISeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T19:46:56.858Z

PRESSURE ON

At the 11th, Fleetwood finds the front-right collar with the flag in the front-right corner, so it’s not too bad. Following next, Rose lands one on the green and maybe eight feet away on a better line.

The US team do not do a great job of matching the European efforts. Griffin zips one too much and his ball flies off the green while DeChambeau rips his ball back past the two Euro balls and right up against the collar of rough. That will be awkward.

2025-09-26T19:38:55.342Z

RAHM SINKS ANOTHER

After Scheffler showed Rahm the line with a missed putt from 15 feet at the 11th, the Spaniard gratefully takes advantage of the situation and drops his 12-foot birdie chance in to push Europe into a 3up lead with seven holes to play.

Elsewhere, Burns and Cantlay ask McIlroy to putt out a 1-2 foot try for a tie. McIlroy smiles as he taps home and makes a comment to Lowry as they touch fists. Noted.

Rahm and Straka move 3 ahead 💪#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/KxofBU5XemSeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T19:35:33.545Z

KIND-HEARTED BRYSON

Rose and Fleetwood both have chances to make the second match all square at the 10th, but neither are particularly close and DeChambeau – perhaps rather too kindly – says they can pick up their markers. Rose had at least two feet slightly down hill…

2025-09-26T19:32:58.960Z

AMAZING APPROACHES

At the 11th, Spaun and Straka are not really factors thanks to poor shots at various points. However, their playing partners are going toe-to-toe with some exceptional play.

Rahm sticks one in tight from 106 yards out of the first cut. Scheffler says ‘watch this, Rahmbo’ and throws his effort from 104 over the top of the flag before zipping it back right past the hole. The ball had a look but scurried past and ends right on the fringe.

2025-09-26T19:27:35.859Z

THIRD MATCH 3UP

Rookie Young confidently sinks his birdie putt and the roars explode from the fans! Keegan Bradley, who is watching on, joins them with a passionate celebration. The home team are feeling pretty good about their chances in that match now.

2025-09-26T19:25:57.428Z

BIG CHANCE FOR THE US

Hojgaard is off target from the other side of the ninth green while Aberg fails to convert his excellent approach. Now, can Cam Young send the US 3up in the third match?…

2025-09-26T19:22:01.421Z

CLASS FROM CAMERON

At the ninth, and with the ball just above his feet, Cam Young draws a wonderful approach in towards the target and watches the ball slam on the brakes a few feet out. That should be a birdie.

But will it be a hole victory? Not if Aberg has got anything to do with it. The Swede nonchalantly clips his own approach underneath the hole and has a good chance of his own.

2025-09-26T19:19:00.842Z

POOR EFFORT

Lowry hates it right off the blade. The ball fades away to the right and it’ll be a tied hole at the eighth.

2025-09-26T19:17:48.408Z

CHANCE FOR EUROPE

Cantlay has chipped eight feet past while Burns nestles his birdie try from range up close. McIlroy can be aggressive with his chip with Lowry in tight.

The Northern Irishman gives it a great try, but it slides a couple of inches right of target. Over to Lowry…

2025-09-26T19:16:30.107Z

STRONG SPANISH HANDS

At the 10th, Rahm gouges his ball out of the thick fairway rough with a wedge to the front edge of the green and he’ll have a look at birdie. That’s impressive strength.

2025-09-26T19:14:47.500Z

LOWRY IN CLOSE

At the par-3 8th, Lowry fires a dart into maybe 10 feet and he’ll have a great look at birdie shortly. McIlroy pushes one out to the right but receives a very friendly bounce into the rough, from where he may be able to chip close, if not in. From a US perspective, Burns is 30 feet or so away, right in the middle of the dancefloor. Cantlay will be chipping from over the back…

2025-09-26T19:07:48.085Z

RORY IS IN THE ZONE

That’s more like it! He’s just holed an excellent putt at the sixth and, at the seventh, he drains a 25-footer for birdie and to move himself and Lowry 2-up.

Rory’s at it again!! 🗣️#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/7qZFsLUBAfSeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T19:03:04.901Z

MISSED CHANCES AT THE NINTH

There’s been plenty of chances for players to win their respective holes and, at the ninth, Spaun and Scheffler have a great chance to birdie, but both miss.

Faced with 20-feet for birdie, Spaun’s putt is good, but doesn’t break, while Scheffler’s birdie attempt is always low.

That leaves Europe with an opportunity to move 3-up, with Rahm leaving himself a 12-footer. Once again, it’s a great putt but, somehow, it slides left and misses. The opening match remains 2-up in Europe’s favor going into the back nine.

GET IN RORY

He’s missed some good chances early on but that is a superb putt from McIlroy at the sixth!

Hitting it to 12-feet with his approach, he slams in the birdie putt to move the European Team 1-up, meaning that they are up in two and down in two.

2025-09-26T18:47:14.843Z

AND HERE IS GRIFFIN’S EFFORT

2025-09-26T18:46:02.220Z

CLUTCH FROM ROSEY

Justin Rose that is CLUTCH 🤯#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/5wgYrnkr8uSeptember 26, 2025

2025-09-26T18:44:44.201Z

WHAT A PASSAGE OF PLAY

Unreal golf from Ben Griffin and Justin Rose at the par 4 seventh and Straka at the par 4 eighth.

DeChambeau has been the main man on Friday afternoon but, on debut, Griffin holes a 56-footer for birdie that puts the pressure on Team Europe. Once again though, it’s Rose who is up for the challenge, as he holes a 40-footer to share the hole! That match remains 1-up in USA’s favor.

Seconds later, Straka drains a 48-foot putt for birdie and puts the pressure on Scheffler, who fails to convert from 10-foot. Europe go 2-up in that match.

2025-09-26T18:38:30.053Z

ANOTHER CHANCE MISSED

It’s the European Team who now miss a great chance, with Aberg’s birdie attempt at the sixth brushing the right-edge of the hole.

Having seen Young and Thomas miss their birdie chances, that was a great opportunity to move back to 1-down, but a par for Aberg means the US side remain two clear.

2025-09-26T18:35:37.923Z

ANOTHER MISS FOR USA

It feels like USA are playing the better golf this afternoon but, so far, they only just lead two matches.

Burns has a chance to take the lead in the final game but, from eight-feet, his putt falls low and it’s a par to tie the hole with Lowry and McIlroy.

Up ahead, Scheffler plays a delightful approach into the par 3 eighth, leaving a great chance to move back to a tie against Rahm and Straka.

2025-09-26T18:25:35.834Z

BRYSON BOOM

2025-09-26T18:24:07.999Z

JT CONTINUES CHARGE

An excellent approach at the fifth is followed by a great putt from Thomas, who moves the American Team 2-up in the third match.

Along with that game, DeChambeau pounds a 360-yard drive through the fairway at the sixth, with a great approach leaving an equally great chance to move 2-up in the second match.

His putt, though, slides by and that’s a big miss as he and Griffin remain 1-up against Fleetwood and Rose.

BIRDIE FOR BRYSON

SOME SHOT FROM JT

He may have struggled this morning, but that is an excellent shot from Thomas, who nearly holes his approach at the par 4 fifth.

From 190-yards, his effort pitches just inches from the flag and runs out to five-feet, leaving a great look at birdie.

BRYSON MOVES USA 1-UP

Both Rose and Fleetwood can’t birdie the par 4 fifth, with their attempts not scaring the hole.

Following an excellent approach, which finishes 13-feet from the flag, DeChambeau then drains his putt into the center of the hole for a birdie and a 1-up lead.

They are the second match out, meaning that USA are up in two games, down in one and tied in one.

2025-09-26T18:02:32.873Z

BIRDIES AT THE FOURTH

Both Aberg and Young birdie the par 5 fourth to tie the hole. That keeps the US Team 1-up in that match.

2025-09-26T17:57:10.835Z

BIG MISS FROM RORY

Wow… I did not expect that! After his incredible tee shot at the third, you’d expect Europe to move 1-up, especially as Burns and Cantlay fail to make birdie at the par 3.

Faced with four-foot for the win, McIlroy strikes his putt and it catches the left-edge, spinning out for the hole. That’s a huge miss for Europe, who remain tied.

2025-09-26T17:54:50.886Z

HOW DID THAT NOT DROP?

That deserved to go in! Spaun has a putt to win the hole for the US side at the fifth but, somehow, it hits the right edge and horseshoes out. I don’t know how that hasn’t gone in, especially from 30-feet!

Following his miss, Scheffler hits a pretty poor putt that doesn’t trouble the hole, with pars sharing the spoils.

2025-09-26T17:50:05.745Z

EXCELLENT FROM RORY AND CANTLAY

Unbelievable shot from McIlroy at the third, with his long-iron from 220-yards finishing just three-feet from the hole.

That puts the pressure on the US side, with a birdie, likely, needed to halve. Burns goes left off the green, leaving a tough up-and-down, while Cantlay steps up and produces an excellent tee shot that finishes 15-feet from the flag.

2025-09-26T17:45:13.581Z

BEAUTIFUL FROM SHANE

Shane Lowry has arrived at the Ryder Cup, with the Major winner holing a 20-footer for birdie at the par 4 second to win the hole. Europe move back into a tie after two.

2025-09-26T17:43:06.026Z

USA REMAIN 1-UP IN THIRD MATCH

Europe make a par at the par 3 third and get away with one.

Both Thomas and Young have birdie chances, but Thomas’ just slides by the left-side. That leaves Young with a chance to win and, from a similar position to Rahm earlier, the American’s putt just grazes the edge and stays out. That match remains 1-up in the US’ favor.

2025-09-26T17:40:57.682Z

UNREAL FROM RORY

Rory McIlroy hits a driver

That’s an insane shot from McIlroy at the second. Out of position, he manages to carve his approach around the tree and to six-feet for birdie.

They’re one down to USA’s Burns and Cantlay, who are both on the fairway. In terms of their second shots, Burns fires a wedge past the flag and it spins back to 15-feet. Cantlay, meanwhile, puts his second to 40-feet.

2025-09-26T17:33:09.122Z

YOUNG BIRDIES THE SECOND

Just as the US team win the first in the final match, Young claims the second via a beautiful birdie.

Putting his approach to 15-feet, the Ryder Cup rookie rolls in his putt to send the home crowd into raptures. They now lead 1-up after two in the third game.

Up ahead, USA’s Spaun birdies the fourth after getting up-and-down from the bunker. Rahm still has an eagle putt to win the hole, but it’s short and finishes on the edge. Opportunity missed as Europe remain 1-up.

2025-09-26T17:29:07.480Z

USA LEAD THE FINAL MATCH

Lowry’s birdie attempt at the first hole is weak and comes up well short. That leaves it up to McIlroy, who pushes his birdie attempt well right, leading to a par.

That gives Burns and Cantlay putts to win the first, with Burns converting to move the American team 1-up.

In the second match, DeChambeau just misses his birdie attempt to win the hole, with their match still tied after three.

2025-09-26T17:25:03.950Z

RAHMBO IS FEELING IT

After an excellent birdie at the third, Rahm fires in a superb second at the par 5 fourth, which finishes around 15-feet away for eagle.

Spaun is in the bunker for the US team, with Scheffler needing to respond with a good shot. Just a few feet away from his opponent’s tee shot, Scheffler goes left and finishes in the thick rough.

He is short-sided and will have a tough up-and-down coming up.

THE FINAL MATCH IS OFF

The final afternoon match is underway and, at the opener, Shane Lowry finds the left rough with his first competitive shot of the Ryder Cup.

He is paired alongside his good friend, McIlroy, who hits a monster opener that finishes just 10-yards short of the green!

Sam Burns and Cantlay are their opponents and, in terms of their tee shots, Burns is in the right rough, while Cantlay is on the fairway, albeit well back of the green.

2025-09-26T17:14:09.391Z

BIRDIES FLOWING

We expected birdies this afternoon and it’s certainly delivering!

Playing the par 3 third, Rahm produces the first birdie of the day at the hole and, after Spaun and Scheffler miss their attempts, it puts Europe 1-up after losing the first.

At the opening hole, Thomas and Hojgaard both birdie to halve in threes.

SUPERB STRAKA

Straka chips-in at the second hole to bring the match back to all-square! The Austrian was just off the edge of the green, with his chip rattling the back of the hole and dropping in for birdie.

Europe move back to a tie in the opener!

2025-09-26T17:02:18.479Z

NO NERVES FROM HOJGAARD

Aberg and Rasmus Hojgaard are representing Europe in the third game of the afternoon, with Hojgaard producing a huge drive on the first that finishes 20-yards from the green.

USA’s Cameron Young is another rookie in this group, with his tee shot also miles down the fairway, leaving a flick with a wedge.

Thomas is the second American player to play, with his drive finding the right rough. He struggled this morning, so will want to make amends this afternoon.

BIRDIES AT THE FIRST

After some excellent approach shots from all four players in the second match, we end up with a tie.

USA’s Griffin just missed his birdie putt, with Europe’s Fleetwood rolling in a delightful 10-footer to secure the three.

It’s down to DeChambeau to secure the halve, which he does via a solid six-footer. One of many birdies you feel…

2025-09-26T16:50:35.589Z

USA IN TROUBLE AT THE SECOND

Spaun and Scheffler lead the first match but, at the second hole, they both pull their tee shots left and leave awkward approaches into the green.

Straka, meanwhile, finds the right-side of the fairway, leaving a nice angle into the flag. Rahm is also on the right-side, finding the rough with his drive.

SECOND MATCH UNDERWAY

Rose is up first in match two and, with a driver in hand, he finds the fairway. His partner, Fleetwood, goes left into the rough, leaving similar shots to that of Rahm, Straka and Scheffler.

DeChambeau leads off the US side, with his tee shot around 30 yards past Rose’s, landing in the middle of the fairway.

He is paired alongside US rookie, Ben Griffin, who plays a delightful tee shot that finishes in the center of the short grass, a few yards back of Rose.

2025-09-26T16:42:35.443Z

USA GO 1-UP

Straka is first to play, with his birdie attempt from off the green not troubling the hole. Following his putt, Rahm just misses his birdie, with it sliding by the left-side.

That leaves Scheffler and Spaun with putts to take the first hole and, after Scheffler misses, it leaves it up to Spaun to win the hole.

Faced with a short putt for birdie, he rattles it in and that’s the win to the USA.

2025-09-26T16:37:02.028Z

ADVANTAGE AMERICA

Straka comes up short with his approach into the first, while Scheffler’s trickles on to the front edge of the green, leaving a 12-footer for birdie.

Spaun, meanwhile, plays a gorgeous second to three-feet. That will help settle his nerves. Rahm is the final player to play and, following the Major champion, the Spaniard goes past the hole, leaving a 15-footer coming back for birdie.

OPENING TEE SHOTS

Rahm and Straka are up first, with Rahm leading the session off. He found the right rough earlier in the foursomes and, this time around, he nukes his tee shot into the left rough. That’s not a bad angle to that flag.

Straka, meanwhile, also pulls his tee shot left and into the rough, leaving himself around 30 yards behind his Spanish teammate.

The Americans are next, with Spaun hitting his first ever competitive shot in the Ryder Cup. Instead of going left, the US Open champion goes right, finding himself with a poor lie for his second.

Finally, it’s Scheffler’s turn to tee off and, following a defeat this morning, the World No.1 also finds the left rough. The fairway is left untouched.

2025-09-26T16:25:33.277Z

HOW EUROPE CLAIMED THEIR FIRST POINT

2025-09-26T16:24:50.932Z

EUROPE AND USA ARE ON THE TEE

The boos are ringing out, so it must mean Europe are on the tee!

Rahm and Straka stride to the opening hole, with the European duo paired together for the very first time. Rahm has a four-balls record of one win, two loses and two ties, while Straka makes his four-ball debut.

Scheffler and Spaun are also making their way to the first tee. The World No.1 has one win and two losses in four-balls, while Spaun is making his Ryder Cup debut.

Here we go!

2025-09-26T16:18:44.866Z

5 MINUTES TO GO

President Trump is in the building and, as the national anthem blares out and the flyovers happen, we are just five minutes away from the four-balls starting.

The Americans need a big session this afternoon, and it’ll be World No.1 Scheffler and Ryder Cup rookie JJ Spaun leading out the home side. They will play Rahm and Sepp Straka, who didn’t feature this morning.

EUROPE LEAD 3-1 AS AFTERNOON FOUR-BALLS ANNOUNCED

Cantlay and Schauffele get the first points on the board for the US team, with the four-balls announced for this afternoon.

They are:

Scheffler/Spaun (USA) vs Rahm/Straka (EUR)Griffin/DeChambeau (USA) vs Fleetwood/Rose (EUR)Young/Thomas (USA) vs Aberg/Hjogaard (EUR)Burns/Cantlay (USA) vs McIlroy/Lowry (EUR)

SCHAUFFELE & CANTLAY WIN 2UP

2025-09-26T15:49:30.737Z

XANDER IN POSITION A

105 yards. He can close out the match with a dart, here. Just needs to watch the spin. It’s perfect. May as well shake hands!

2025-09-26T15:45:12.945Z

CLUTCH FROM CANTLAY

Cantlay finds the fairway with his drive. Very nicely done. Viktor carves it waaaay right. I’m calling it…. USA wins 2up. Team USA about to get on the board, surely.

2025-09-26T15:42:20.273Z

FOR THE WIN ON 17…

Oh, Patrick, you had it! Great read, just comes up a little short. Now over to Bob who has a horrid putt. Viktor played a high-class bunker shot from below the green. Bob, though, has a 10-footer – and some very industrial language to deal with. He misses. In fairness, the heckling does seem to stop once the players are over the ball! I wouldn’t say you could have heard a pin drop, but it was pretty quiet… Anyway, 1UP to the Americans coming down the last.

ADVANTAGE USA

Bob comes up short in the sand and lets rip with an expletive. Xander comes in right over the flag and leaves his partner with a very makable putt. Hovland won’t like what he sees when he reaches the green – he’s plugged in the trap. It’s not totally plugged, but it’s not exactly pretty. Big chance for the US to retake the lead in the final match of the morning’s foursomes.

2025-09-26T15:32:30.902Z

STILL ALL SQUARE

Two final approaches. Two average putts. Cantlay hasn’t looked at all comfortable on the greens today. He’s putting uphill there with a chance to win the hole, and it doesn’t really threaten. Let’s not forget how big this match has become. They wouldn’t be human if they weren’t feeling it…

2025-09-26T15:27:00.459Z

XANDER DIGGING IN

Can’t question this man’s fight and bottom – a fine approach there on 16. MacIntyre next. 157 yards, right at it… down to a putting contest.

2025-09-26T15:25:04.364Z

SCHEFFLER 14 DOWN IN FOURSOMES

Not the best record. Still wouldn’t want to play him in the singles.

2025-09-26T15:18:15.037Z

U-S-A, U-S-A…

A few cheers after that nice pitch from Xander, but Cantlay misses the putt from about 6-8ft. Now on Viktor to square the match. “Hurry up,” says one fan. Viktor taking a long time over this. Makes it. ALL SQUARE.

2025-09-26T15:13:32.015Z

DONALD…

“It’s nice to see the boys playing well. Once Friday goes off, they know the plan.” Rather dull these interviews. Lots of cliches, as you’d expect. Stick to the action!

2025-09-26T15:11:26.211Z

CHEERS!

… For Hovland coming up short. Door was open there. Now Cantlay from 170 yards. Tight angle, lie not fantastic. He comes up short, too. Odds on a half, here.

2025-09-26T15:06:17.755Z

XANDER WELL WIDE

Xander has gone into the hospitality on the 15th. Not a bad idea, maybe grab a couple of cold ones. In all seriousness, that was soooo wide. This match might be about to go all square…

2025-09-26T15:03:50.678Z

BRADLEY STILL SMILING

Why wouldn’t he be? Early days. No sense in looking worried. They’ll believe they can turn this around this afternoon – no doubt about that… so long as Schauffele and Cantlay put some red on the board.

2025-09-26T15:02:11.887Z

WORLD NO.1 SCHEFFLER…

“I felt like Russ and I did some good things. We just didn’t hole enough putts early. We had some chances. I think the putts just didn’t fall. But overall, the guys we played, they played a really good round, and go back out this afternoon and see what we can do.”

2025-09-26T14:59:54.394Z

COMING UP…

12:25pm: Match 5
12:41pm: Match 6
12:57pm: Match 7
1:13pm: Match 8

2025-09-26T14:53:05.172Z

GAME ON!

Disaster in the bottom match – from 3up to 1up. If there’s one thing Keegan Bradley doesn’t want it’s a nervy wait for the first point, which looked a certainty 20 minutes ago. Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are now just 1up through 13 holes.

2025-09-26T14:51:01.083Z

HAPPY MATT

A first Ryder Cup point for Matt Fitzpatrick in the foursomes, and it’s come against the World No.1 and World No.3. It’s very quiet at Bethpage but that’ll surely change at some point. Might also have something to do with beers costing $15.

NOW 0-3

It’s not often you see Scheffler on the receiving end – he’s normally the one dishing out the birdies, but that was near-faultless stuff from the European pair. Matt Fitzpatrick has two putts for the win and for a moment it looks like Aberg will have a tap-in for the victory from about an inch, but the ball just falls in. Game over in that one. 5&3.

2025-09-26T14:45:47.052Z

ABERG & FITZPATRICK WIN 5&3

2025-09-26T14:42:49.282Z

FIRST POINTS GO TO EUROPE

0-2, then. Back out to the course. Scheffler and Henley looking like they want to be put out their misery, but Schauffele and Cantlay have the upper hand in the bottom match. MacIntye and Hovland have just pulled one back, though. It’s now crucial for Bradley that he gets this point on the board.

2025-09-26T14:39:56.034Z

FLEETWOOD MAC 3/3

Three from three in the foursomes for Rory and Tommy. Lots of love, as there is between Hatton and Rahm, both pairs speaking to the media. Long way to go etc, not getting ahead of themselves.

PUTTS TO WIN

2025-09-26T14:32:29.409Z

PLUGGED!

Wow, these greens are soft. Has it been raining at Bethpage? Collin very unlucky not to get some action there – the ball plugs on the green.

2025-09-26T14:30:22.170Z

RAHM VERY CALM

This is how to keep Bryson and JT at arm’s length.

2025-09-26T14:20:26.840Z

EUROPE CLOSING IN ON FIRST POINTS

3up, 4up, 5up… but Xander and Patrick are doing the business for Bradley in the bottom match. 3up now after a sloppy 3-putt from the Europeans.

2025-09-26T14:14:59.231Z

RAHM RESPONDS

We’ve not had enough of these moments so far. Bryson rolls in a huge putt and rallies up the crowd. Rahm responds with a 6 footer than never left the center of the cup.

2025-09-26T14:13:14.013Z

EUROPE TICKING OFF HOLES

No fireworks needed from Europe now – certainly not in the middle two matches.

2025-09-26T14:07:53.266Z

XANDER/PAT GOING WELL

A fairly reliable pair are these two. 2up and in command of the bottom match. Xander is looking like that player from 2024, which is great to see. There’s not been a lot to cheer so far if you’re an American fan, but this guy is one of the few in the zone.

2025-09-26T14:04:20.226Z

ANOTHER BLOW LANDED

Tyrrell can smell blood. He calmly rolls in an 8-footer to put Europe 3up in the top match. That was a very fine up-and-down from the LIV pairing.

2025-09-26T13:59:22.220Z

WORLD NO.1 & NO.3 ALL AT SEA

Aberg and Fitz have been very good, but Henley and Scheffler have just not clicked. Can’t remember Scottie Scheffler looking quite so down in the dumps… not since Rome. I imagine he’s sick of the sight of Ludvig. They’re now 5 down.

2025-09-26T13:57:51.072Z

HATTON LANDS A BLOW

Here’s that big putt from Tyrrell. How significant could this be?

Never looked like missing 😍Hatton & Rahm go 2UP 🆚 DeChambeau & Thomas#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/2NzmsYPsD4September 26, 2025

2025-09-26T13:56:25.359Z

WATCH OUT MARSHAL!

Thomas loses one right, but it hits a marshal standing all alone. That might be a decent break. Hatton sticks one deep in the rough behind the green. Interesting game within a game coming up there on 13.

2025-09-26T13:54:17.107Z

ANOTHER POOR PUTT

English this time gets the speed all wrong – that was for a win on 11 and he belts it through the break. That was a good chance – only about 12 feet away.

2025-09-26T13:52:52.971Z

HENLEY LONG ON 12

Very long. “Sit,” he shouts, as soon as it leaves the clubface. And it does – because it hits the crowd. Lucky break (not for the fan).

2025-09-26T13:47:56.743Z

BIG!

Hatton takes his time, stepping back to swat a bug away off his ball. Steps back in and lands a big blow with a 20-footer. Europe go 2up in the top game.

2025-09-26T13:43:37.657Z

TOO MANY ERRORS

Bryson goes long at 12. Scheffler leaves Henley in a different zip code at 11. Henley then comes up massively short – but Scheffler rolls it in. No damage done.

2025-09-26T13:39:43.948Z

MORE OF THIS NEEDED

This is the type of iron play we’re used to seeing from Collin… lot’s more required if they’re to get out of the hole they find themself in.

2025-09-26T13:36:03.376Z

YES, XANDER!

That’s more like it. This man has a very cool head – you just knew he’d make that one. Lovely stroke, 10 footer down the hill with a bit of a break, and he walks it in. Lovely.

We have red on the board again.

2025-09-26T13:34:16.796Z

WOW… CHEERS PARTNER

Bryson has one for the hole… straight putt, 15ft. Aggressive effort, runs 4ft by. Thomas remains nice and calm to roll it in. The situation of the match is playing a part. Some of the putts the US have missed have been a little forced, especially that one there from Bryson.

Two tight matches, two not so tight.

2025-09-26T13:30:30.777Z

RARE MISS

McIlroy misses. Morikawa and English reduce the deficit – now 4 down.

2025-09-26T13:28:32.881Z

RED WIPED OFF

Not a good putt there from Bob. That was to take the only red off the board – a wafty one that doesn’t threaten. It doesn’t matter. The US miss from close range, and that match is now all square.

2025-09-26T13:24:34.139Z

BRYSON NOT HOLDING BACK

Jon Rahm and Bryson seem to be having their own long drive contest at the moment – and Rahm is more than holding his own. Both players striping it.

What the USA really need is some kick-in birdies…. like that from Collin. What a shot. Stiff. Pick it up. Now Tommy… also brilliant. McIlroy will have an 8-footer to go out in -6.

2025-09-26T13:20:51.922Z

WALKING THEM IN

Ludvig Aberg is enjoying himself out there at the moment – never looked anywhere else this one.

2025-09-26T13:18:21.144Z

MATT BERG 4UP

This is getting away from the US here. First, Aberg drains a mid range effort, and gives it the walk-in. Then McIlroy tidies up from close range on the 8th after Tommy’s fine tee short. Europeans extending their lead in both of those matches. Early worries for Bradley. A long way to go but this is not the start Team USA were hoping for. 3-1 wouldn’t be a the end of the world if it stays that way, but a few of the stars on the US side haven’t found their stride just yet.

CANTLAY WITH A SHOCKER

Europe dodge a bullet there. Patrick Cantlay never settled over the 10-footer for the win on the 6th. Comes up short… not his best. All very quiet at Bethpage Black at the moment.

2025-09-26T13:11:50.499Z

TOMMY THROWS A DART

Fleetwood is keeping the pressure on, 7-iron down the hill on the par-3 8th. That’s just 5ft away.

2025-09-26T13:08:56.812Z

RAHM MISSES

Chance gone for Rahm in the top match – he misses from about 10 feet. They stay 1UP through nine. Morikawa makes a tidy comeback putt after English fired a long distance 6ft by.

2025-09-26T13:02:42.592Z

THOMAS SHORT

The top match has swung, and now they’re under pressure. Thomas comes up short with a wedge. Hatton pounces. Advantage Europe again. Annnnnnnd…….. time for ANOTHER ad break.

2025-09-26T12:57:56.143Z

CHANGE OVER

Elliott Heath signing off here from what has been an immense start from Luke Donald’s Europeans.

They have played superbly well and the crowd is sounding very subdued so far.

Over to Michael Weston…

2025-09-26T12:54:48.070Z

RORY MCILROY – WOW!

McIlroy has just stuck it to within 2ft on the 6th with a wedge in hand. Incredible.

Fleetwood Mac are rolling here and they go 4up after Morikawa’s birdie effort stays right.

In the first match, DeChambeau has just missed a birdie chance on the par-3 8th as Jon Rahm holes to put Europe 1up. A huge roar as well from the European fans!

Rahm/Hatton have just won back-to-back holes to flip this match.

Oh, Rory 😮‍💨#TeamEurope | #OurTimeOurPlace pic.twitter.com/a10vacdJj0September 26, 2025

BIG MISS FROM THOMAS

After a poor iron shot short and left on the 7th, he misses from 6ft after Bryson DeChambeau’s bunker shot.

Big, big miss and you feel that this is starting to sway further to the Europeans.

2025-09-26T12:44:45.886Z

FLEETWOOD MAC 3UP

McIlroy holes another good close-range birdie putt to put Europe 3up in the third game.

A STICK.

Rahm pushes his drive down the right on the 7th and it’s resting up against a stick. Slow motion footage shows the ball perhaps rock a little but I don’t think it moved.

We may hear more on this… Probably not though, I think Europe are all good.

Hatton hits a good shot to find the green, which Rahm claps, coming after Justin Thomas hit a poor iron shot well short and left.

Stick update: Wayne Riley says the official ruling is that the ball oscillated but did not move so all good.

2025-09-26T12:36:22.829Z

BIG FROM FITZPATRICK!

The Englishman holes from around 12ft on the 6th for birdie to put the pressure on Scheffler and Henley.

Can Scheffler match him? No! His downhill, right-to-lefter stays out to the right.

3up Europe.

2025-09-26T12:34:55.849Z

FLEETWOOD MAC 2UP

A poor birdie effort from Harris English is pounced on by Rory McIlroy who holes his birdie putt from a similar length to go 2up.

IMPRESSIVE START FROM EUROPE HERE

There’s a saying in boxing that you can sometimes tell who’s going to win the fight within 10 seconds. My early observations in this Ryder Cup is that Europe have not shown any weakness so far.

The home crowd are fairly quiet at the moment – it is only half 8 in the morning – but some of that has to be down to Europe’s play.

This looks like it could go right down to the wire on Sunday, hopefully.

2025-09-26T12:31:08.877Z

FIRST GROUP HOLDING UP PLAY

Hatton’s wayward drive on 6 caused some confusion over whose turn it was to play their second shots, and it has led to quite a slow hole with the second group waiting back on the fairway to hit their shots in.

Rahm seemed to take an AGE to tap in his four-footer to halve the hole. I wonder if there’s some gamesmanship there or he was just genuinely taking his time.

2025-09-26T12:29:16.598Z

BIG MISS FROM HENLEY

The World No.3 and Ryder Cup rookie cannot convert Scheffler’s stunning approach into 5 and Aberg/Fitzpatrick go 2up. That’s two short-ish misses from Henley already.

2025-09-26T12:25:49.926Z

INCREDIBLE FROM RAHM

Remember I said Hatton hit his drive on 6 into knee-high rough? Rahm has somehow managed to wedge it to within 10-15ft. Remarkable.

2025-09-26T12:24:49.751Z

MCDOWELL UNHAPPY WITH COMMERCIAL LOAD

I must say, I agree with him. This is the biggest event in the sport and we are missing quite a lot due to the commercial breaks.

This @USANetwork coverage driving me insane already. Think we are on the 5th commercial break. May have to flip on the @SkySports version. Any better?September 26, 2025

USA 1UP IN FINAL MATCH

After that superb approach into from Schauffele, Cantlay rolls in the birdie from 6ft to put the Americans 1up.

2025-09-26T12:21:18.270Z

SCHEFFLER AT 5…WOW

From 186 yards into the 5th hole, Scheffler hits a mid-iron to about 5ft. It stops dead to set up a great birdie chance.

With soft greens, Scottie Scheffler is frightening with an iron in hand.

Hang on a minute… Matt Fitzpatrick has just hit it even closer! Wow, incredible golf on display here.

SCHAUFFELE WITH THE BEST SHOT WE’VE SEEN INTO 2

The two-time Major winner judges the spin to perfection on the 2nd and leaves Cantlay what should be an easy birdie chance. Should be USA 1up in the final game.

2025-09-26T12:15:50.377Z

OH DEAR HATTON

On the 6th, Hatton pulls his drive MILES left and into knee-high rough. The US fans look to have found it but they can’t be good.

2025-09-26T12:14:24.503Z

EUROPE 1UP IN SECOND MATCH

Scheffler and Henley can only par the par-5 3rd hole after Henley’s 10-foot birdie putt slides by left.

2025-09-26T12:11:29.901Z

EVERYONE MISSING THE 3RD GREEN LEFT

McIlroy is the next player to miss the 3rd green left. Fleetwood should be fine to chip that close, however.

2025-09-26T12:10:49.750Z

EUROPE ESCAPE ON 1

Xander Schauffele has just pulled a great birdie chance left on the 1st. Europe survive by the skin of their teeth to tie.

FIRST APOLOGIES FOR HATTON LANGUAGE

We’ve made it to the 5th hole before the broadcast has had to apologize for Tyrrell Hatton’s language. He’s not pleased with his approach into the par-4.

MCGINLEY:

“They feel they’re better on the front foot than us, shooting lower scores, hence the set up the way it is,” Paul McGinley on the friendly course setup at Bethpage.

2025-09-26T12:02:05.138Z

FINAL GAME ON THE 1ST TEE

Robert MacIntyre up first and he pushes it into the left rough. Again, absolutely no worries in the rough as the ball is sitting up perfectly.

Xander Schauffele follows with a strong drive into the 1st cut up the right. Schauffele and Cantlay have lost three of their last four matches together so I’m interested to see how they fare today.

2025-09-26T11:59:25.260Z

HIGH CLASS GOLF

Fitzpatrick and Thomas have both just hit some beautiful chip shots. Helps with short rough and soft greens but still, these really are the best players in the world.

2025-09-26T11:54:20.327Z

MCILROY/FLEETWOOD 1UP

Harris English’s putt slides by and McIlroy converts from 4ft.

Fleetwood-Mac 1up.

2025-09-26T11:52:50.165Z

STUNNING FROM FLEETWOOD

From a tricky lie on the 1st, he chips it over the bunker and it runs up to 3ft. McIlroy should easily convert that, meaning Harris English will have to hole his 10-footer from the fringe.

SCHEFFLER WITH A GOOD LOOK FOR BIRDIE ON 2

The World No.1 has 8ft for birdie on the 2nd to get the US back to all-square and he rolls it in dead-center.

2025-09-26T11:49:21.710Z

THE ROUGH REALLY IS REMARKABLE

Justin Thomas has just missed the fairway right on the 4th and it’s hard to tell if he’s found the fairway or not. He hasn’t, but the lie is so good that there really doesn’t seem to be much penalty for wayward drives.

2025-09-26T11:46:46.206Z

GREAT PUTT FROM BRYSON AT 3

DeChambeau holes from 7ft on the 3rd after the Europeans easily got it up-and-down. A great save.

2025-09-26T11:45:52.269Z

MATCH 3 UP NEXT MORIKAWA/ENGLISH vs MCILROY/FLEETWOOD

Rory McIlroy up first for Europe, bombing a drive up the right to leave a short chip on from the rough.

Harris English finds the fairway, much further back and to the left.

2025-09-26T11:43:26.414Z

‘IS THIS A LIBRARY?’

Great chant from the European fans at the 1st tee during a rare quiet moment. Shane Lowry is loving it, laughing and clapping along.

2025-09-26T11:40:01.494Z

BRYSON LEFT ON 3

DeChambeau misses the green on the 212 yard par-3 3rd, pulling his 6-iron left into the bunker.

Rahm follows him in there! Poor from the Spaniard with the door open.

2025-09-26T11:38:24.406Z

EUROPE 1UP IN GAME TWO

Aberg slots home from 4ft after Fitzpatrick’s stunning wedge shot in.

2025-09-26T11:36:00.173Z

SURPRISINGLY POOR FROM SCHEFFLER

The World No.1’s wedge shot into the 1st comes up a good 40ft shot. Surprising!

Tyrrell Hatton has missed his birdie chance at the 2nd, also as Justin Thomas’ birdie chance slides by on the left side. Europe got away with one there.

Back to the 1st and Matt Fitzpatrick wedges it tight to leave around 4ft for birdie.

THESE GREENS ARE SPINNY

After all the rain it comes as no surprise but wow, we just saw a combined 70ft of backspin on the 2nd green I’d guess.

2025-09-26T11:31:52.564Z

DECHAMBEAU INTO 2

Bryson has hit a beauty of a wedge into the 2nd from the middle of the fairway that rips back a good 20-25ft to leave Thomas with a 10-footer for birdie.

Jon Rahm up next from 101 yards and his spins back a good 40-feet. Outside birdie look for the Europeans.

2025-09-26T11:30:12.231Z

MATCH 2

Ludvig Aberg finds the fairway for Europe as Russell Henley pulls his drive down the left. There’s barely any rough and soft greens – and his partner is Scottie Scheffler – so no worries there.

EUROPE FIRST TO PLAY SECOND SHOTS ON 1

Tyrrell Hatton, from the right rough, pitches it up to around 20ft. Not great but he did have a fairly heavy lie, a bunker to go over and lots of US fans jeering him.

Thomas is in great shape just shy of the green after a phenomenal drive from DeChambeau.

MORE AWAY FANS THAN LAST TIME

Remember the 2021 Ryder Cup? It was delayed a year due to Covid-19 but it still meant that there were very few European fans on-site to support their side.

Don’t get me wrong, it is still going to be a tough atmosphere for Luke Donald’s side but there are a good amount of European fans at Bethpage to cheer on the away side.

FOURSOMES VS FOUR-BALL: WHAT TO KNOW

Foursomes: One ball between each pair, alternate shot

Foursomes: One player tees off odd-numbered holes, one goes off even-numbered holes

Foursomes: Quicker format as only two balls in play
