Several NRL clubs have reportedly taken an interest in signing young gun Jonah Pezet on a 12-month loan, with the Cowboys emerging as a potential landing spot.

According to Code Sports, Knights assistant Blake Green is set to make a move to Townsville to become the club’s new attacking coach after an overhaul under Todd Payten.

Payten and Green could have Pezet at their disposal, potentially partnering Tom Dearden and Reed Mahoney in what shapes as a dangerous spine along with Scott Drinkwater.

Pezet was rendered a free agent after Jahrome Hughes re-signed with the Storm earlier this year, with a 12-month loan being floated for the talented halfback.

As it stands, the 22-year-old’s path to first grade is being blocked by Cameron Munster and Hughes in Melbourne.

Alongside the Cowboys, the Raiders have reportedly outlined their interest in taking Pezet on in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Knights have also previously made a play for Pezet’s services with a long-term deal, but pulled out of the race for his signature in August.

TITANS’ SHOCK MOVE

The Titans are reportedly considering handing maligned halfback Jackson Hastings an NRL lifeline, with his current contract expiring at the conclusion of the 2025 season.

Hastings has spent the last three seasons at the Knights, having spent the majority of his season in NSW Cup.

The 29-year-old has a wealth of NRL experience, having spent periods at the Roosters, Tigers and in the Hunter as well as Salford and Wigan in the Super League.

According to WWOS, incoming Titans coach Josh Hannay could be set to make a move to recruit Hastings, suring up his stocks in the No.7 jersey.

“Josh sees Jackson’s experience and ability to get the team around the park as an asset,” a source said.

“He believes Jackson can get the best out of young players like Jayden Campbell and Keano Kini. They are weighing it up now.”

Hastings has long been considered one of rugby league’s most polarising figures, having fallen out with Roosters players at his first NRL club.

He then endured a bitter clash with Daly Cherry-Evans which saw him depart the Sea Eagles and head to the UK.

BULLDOGS FLYER’S NEW CLUB

Bulldogs flyer Blake Wilson has confirmed he will arive at a new club in 2026, with his current contract at Canterbury expiring at the end of their 2025 campaign.

The 25-year-old took to social media, revealing his time at the Bulldogs had come to an end.

“Thankyou @nrl_bulldogs for the past 3 years what a ride, from my debut, the highs and lows I wouldn’t change any of it!” Wilson wrote

“Thankyou to everyone at the club for the support you have given me and all the supporters

that turned up week in week out I can’t put my appreciation into words Thankyou.

“Lastly, I couldn’t of asked for a better group of mates love yas.”

According to Zero Tackle, Wilson will reportedly join the Sea Eagles, with a two-year deal on the cards for the talented flyer.

Wilson played only six first grades games this season, falling behind Marcelo Montoya, Enari Tuala and Jethro Rinakama in the pecking order in Belmore.

However, he will now have to contend with the likes of Lehi Hopoate, Tolu Koula, Jason Saab and Clayton Faulalo for a spot on Manly’s wings.

RAIDERS EYEING VERSATILE PANTHER

The Raiders are closing in on versatile Panthers flyer Daine Laurie, who is expected to sign a multi-year deal with Canberra.

Laurie, who can play in the halves but is at his best at fullback, is stuck behind Dylan Edwards at his current club.

He has been named as 18th man for this Sunday’s epic against Brisbane.

The Raiders have had success picking up versatile back ups from other clubs.

Kaeo Weekes joined the Raiders last season and has emerged to be one of the NRL’s most dangerous weapons after he struggled for playing time at Manly.

DOLPHINS BOLSTER STACKED HALVES ROOM

The Dolphins have reportedly bolstered their burgeoning halves stocks for 2027, with former Raiders half George Williams agreeing to terms on a two-year deal.

Williams, who plies his trade in the Super League for Warrington, will see out his contract with the Wolves before heading back to Australia.

According to Code Sports, Williams will join Redcliffe for the 2027 and 2028 seasons where it’s expected he’ll partner Isaiya Katoa in the halves.

Williams hasn’t been seen in the NRL since 2021 when he was granted a release on compassionate grounds from the Raiders to head back home to the UK.

It was reported that Williams and then coach Ricky Stuart had a falling out over the halfback’s decision to leave the club.

The Dolphins were keen to add Williams from next season but Warrington didn’t come to the party unless they could receive a player in return and a buyout from the Dolphins.

That player was Kodi Nikorima and the two sides were unable to come to an agreement.

FORMER EELS STAR EYES RETURN AFTER FAILED UK STINT

Ryan Matterson is hoping to return to the NRL after a disappointing eight-game stint in the UK Super League.

The Eels loaned Matterson out to Warrington but after just eight games, the 30-year-old is keen to head back to the NRL next season.

Code Sports reported that Matterson failed to find his feet in the UK.

Matterson is under contract with the Eels for 2026, but it’s unclear if he’s part of Jason Ryles’ plans.

It seems as though Matterson is hoping for another fresh start at another NRL club, with his agent reportedly exploring his client’s options.

The forward struggled to crack first grade at Parramatta this season, spending the majority of the season in NSW Cup which spurred Matterson’s decision to head elsewhere for greater opportunity.

Outside back Bailey Simonsson is set to remain at the Eels next season despite rumblings he was disgruntled at the club.

Simonsson, who is under contract until the end of 2027, has been given permission to leave the club but according to Code Sports, it appears he’ll be present when players report back for pre-season training.

TITAN ON DRAGONS’ RADAR

The Dragons have shown an interest in Titans outside back Phillip Sami.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the former Maroons State of Origin winger is viewed by the Dragons as an ideal replacement for wingers Corey Allan and Mikaele Ravalawa, who have both left the club.

Sami has a year left to run on his Titans contract but has been granted permission to negotiate with other clubs.

Sami featured in two games for Queensland during the 2020 State of Origin series, and has 142 NRL appearances to his name along with 71 tries.

The 28-year-old scored 15 tries in 21 games this season.

He was one of the Titans’ most consistent in 2025, enjoying strong form at centre and on the wing.

It’s somewhat of a surprise the Titans are happy to let Sami walk.

During the pre-season, Titans gun AJ Brimson told foxsports.com.au that Sami was one of the most underrated players in the NRL.

BULLDOGS ADD VETERAN HALFBACK

The Bulldogs have added some halfback depth to their roster in a move that is expected to help the development of the club’s young halves Mitch Woods and Lachlan Galvin.

According to Code Sports, Sean O’Sullivan has put pen-to-paper on a deal with the club.

It’s an notable move from the Bulldogs given the club’s blunder around the position this season.

It’s being reported that O’Sullivan, who has been with the Dolphins over the past three seasons, will not only provide halves depth but will join the club in a mentoring role.

O’Sullivan will be tasked with helping Woods navigate his first taste of first grade football in 2026.

It’s expected that Woods will be given a chance in the Bulldogs’ No. 7 early next season with Galvin to be his likely halves partner.

That leaves a question mark over Matt Burton, who will have to be shifted into the centres or elsewhere if the Bulldogs roll with a Woods/Galvin halves combo next season.

The Perth Bears and the North Queensland Cowboys are two clubs who have been rumoured to be interested in Burton.

O’Sullivan has played in 60 NRL games for five clubs since debuting for the Roosters in 2018.

PROMISING PROP SIGNS WITH RIVAL

The Sea Eagles have become the first team to sign a player from the 2027 season onwards, with Souths prop Davvy Moale inking a three-year deal.

Moale is under contract with the Rabbitohs for 12 more months and then he’s set to head to Manly.

After Moale told Souths he wouldn’t sign an extension beyond the end of next season, the club allowed him to negotiate with rivals before the November 1 deadline.

According to Code Sports, the Rabbitohs are trying to free up some cash to land Titans star David Fifita either in 2026 or potentially 2027.

Fifita is under contract for 2026 at the Titans but is agitating for an early release.

As it stands, the Bunnies don’t have the cap space to add Fifita for next season.

The signing of Moale will add some much-needed punch to a Manly forward pack who struggled with injuries and consistency in 2025.

The promising prop is still young, but already boasts plenty of experience, having played in 70 NRL games.
