Alexandra “Alex” Eala fell to Lulu Sun of New Zealand, 6-3, 4-6, 2-6, in the semifinals of the Jingshan Tennis Open on Saturday in China.

After taking the first set, the world No. 58 Eala held an early 2-1 lead in the second before the world No. 146 Sun won four straight games. The Filipina tennis ace managed to win two more games, but Sun closed out the set to even the match.

Momentum shifted to Sun’s side in the third set, as she won the first four games. Eala managed to stop the run, but Sun built a 5-1 lead. Although Eala took one more game, Sun eventually sealed the victory.

This marks Eala’s second career loss to Lulu Sun, following their previous meeting in the Wimbledon qualifiers last year.

Eala reached the semifinals after defeating Aliona Falei, Mei Yamaguchi, and Jia-Jing Lu.

Sun will face China’s Ye-Xin Ma in the final.
