A cool change is moving across Australia this weekend, bringing showers, storms, and falling temperatures after a week of sunshine and warmth.

Sydney topped 28.6 degrees on Saturday before showers move in on Sunday, with SkyNews.com.au meteorologist, Alison Osborne warning of “some storms coming to NSW” that could deliver gusty winds and unsettled weather.

The gusty winds will stretch from the state’s north to northeastern Victoria.

Canberra will climb at 23 degrees – 7 degrees above the September average despite the chilly mornings persisting, while Melbourne drops to 16 degrees as a cold front sweeps through Victoria.

Falls Creek will wake up to a frosty 1 degree, highlighting the shift to cooler conditions across the southeast.

Hobart faces 14 degrees with morning showers expected, while Tasmania could also see hail as heavy rain targets the island state.

Osborne stressed, “We’re tracking some heavy rains for Western Australia” and added that isolated showers would also finish the weekend across the southwest.

Adelaide will cool to 19 degrees with showers and fog lingering into the new week, keeping temperatures slightly below the September average.

Perth will be 21 degrees with showers along the coast, although Osborne noted, “further north the west coast heat is consistent.”

Brisbane remains warm with beachgoers expected to make the most of the weather despite the cool change.

Julia Seymour, Sky News Weather Presenter, said, “Many along the NSW coast will be enjoying the beach regardless of the cool change,” with Brisbane forecast to stay in the high 20s.

Port Macquarie is tipped for 29 degrees and Newcastle 30, keeping coastal NSW very warm.

Darwin continues its run of hot, dry conditions with blue skies and 34 degrees, while Katherine will swelter at 37 and Alice Springs at 34.

Seymour noted Queensland would stay “mostly clear with some parts seeing showers” as heat builds in the state’s north.

South Australia starts the new week with more showers, and Osborne added that “summer storms” could develop across NSW and into Victoria on Sunday afternoon.

Unsettled conditions will linger into the coming days as the cold front pushes across the country.
