Jesse Wardlaw’s four-goal haul has fired St Kilda to a stunning 11-point win over Port Adelaide for the biggest comeback in AFLW history.
St Kilda trailed by 27 points at three-quarter-time at Moorabbin Oval before Wardlaw slammed through three straight goals in the final quarter.
After scoring only one point in the first and third quarters, St Kilda’s final-quarter haul of six goals and two behinds saw them storm over the top of Port, who did not manage a point in the last term.
With just two points the difference, Georgia Patrikios launched St Kilda ahead for the first time and Amber Clarke finished off with the sixth goal of the term.
The 38-0 quarter carried the Saints to a stunning 8.5 (53) to 6.6 (42) victory.
Nick Dal Santo’s St Kilda have won three on the trot and can move as high as seventh (4-3), while Port Adelaide languish in 14th (2-5) with just five games remaining of the 12-round season.
Wardlaw finished with a game-high four goals from 13 touches and eight marks, while Tyanna Smith led the way in the midfield with 24 disposals and five clearances.
Saints captain Hannah Priest overcame a broken nose to finish out the game after copping a heavy knock from teammate Smith in the second quarter.
Crows fly past Swans in Marinoff milestone
Adelaide has prevailed for a hard-earned two-point win over Sydney to celebrate Crows star Ebony Marinoff’s record 100th AFLW game in style.
A fast-maturing Swans line-up refused to be blown away by the three-time premiership side at Unley Oval, with just one goal separating the teams at the final break.
Sydney skipper Chloe Molloy slotted her second goal of the game to make it two points the difference, but the Crows held on for a 6.5 (41) to 6.3 (39) win.
Marinoff became the first AFLW player to reach the 100-game milestone alongside Brisbane star Ally Anderson, who played in the Lions’ simultaneous fixture against Richmond.
The game was also Adelaide’s 100th game as an AFLW club, meaning co-captain reigning best and fairest player Marinoff has remarkably never missed a game since the inaugural 2017 season.
Marinoff was busy in her milestone match with 23 touches, seven clearances, 15 contested possessions and 14 tackles.
Adelaide sits fourth after a 2-3 start to the season and condemn finals hopefuls Sydney to three straight losses.
The Swans are sixth on percentage after going undefeated in the opening four rounds.
Anderson shines as Lions make it a perfect weekend
Anderson has also had a day out in her 100th game, sparking a third-quarter comeback to lift Brisbane to a 34-point win over Richmond.
The winless Tigers threatened to cause the biggest boilover of the season when they opened up an eight-point lead early in the third quarter.
Brisbane had kicked just one goal up to that point, but Anderson simply refused to let the game get away on her milestone day in front of an adoring crowd at Springfield Central Stadium.
Anderson’s quick snap sparked a run of six unanswered goals as the Lions ran all over the top of Richmond to secure the 7.12 (54) to 3.2 (20) win.
It capped a special weekend for Brisbane following the Lions’ 47-point win over Geelong in the men’s grand final the previous day.
The crowd steadily built up to more than 4,000 across Sunday’s match, anticipating the men’s team’s arrival shortly after the final siren to celebrate their AFL premiership.
Brisbane improved its record to 4-3, while Richmond is 0-7 and faces a battle to avoid the wooden spoon.
Anderson tallied 21 disposals, seven score involvements, five tackles, three clearances and a goal.
But it was her efforts in the third quarter, when she racked up nine disposals, a goal and a goal assist, that helped turn the match.
Anderson was chaired off through a guard of honour after Brisbane’s win.

An underdone West Coast outfit has returned to the AFLW top eight after bringing a plucky GWS side back down to earth with a 42-point win.
The Eagles led at every change en route to an 11.9 (75) to 5.3 (33) victory at Lathlain Park to make amends for last round’s 51-point thrashing from Melbourne.
Daisy Pearce’s side, after an illness swept through the camp during the week, rise to eighth (4-3) on percentage and end a two-game losing streak.
Ali Drennan and Roxanne Roux were late changes to the West Coast team on Sunday through illness, but the Eagles refused to be put off.
Young star Ella Roberts was influential again for West Coast, finishing with one goal, 23 disposals, six clearances and 18 contested possessions.
