IT was at the heart of one of the most controversial V8 Supercars title deciders of all-time, with Rick Kelly’s victorious Toll HSV Dealer Team VZ Commodore continuing to race on in 2025.

In this City Rural Insurance Brokers Classic Car profile, we catch up with the car’s custodian, Ben Eggelston, who has put a massive effort into restoring the car to its original 2006 specification.

The car not only won the title, but it also finished second in the two enduros at Sandown and Bathurst in two tight finishes, with Rick’s brother, Todd, on loan from the Holden Racing Team.

However, the 2006 title only tells a part of the car’s remarkable story.

In 2007, Tony D’Alberto used the chassis to claim the Fujitsu V8 Supercars Series crown, while in 2014, as prepared by Eggleston Motorsport, Justin Ruggier claimed the V8 Touring Car Series, making it the only V8 Supercar to claim three titles in as many classes.
