The Vancouver Canucks will miss Nils Hoglander to start the upcoming season as the Swedish winger is expected to be sidelined for 8-10 weeks after undergoing lower-body surgery, the team announced on Monday night.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Nils Höglander underwent successful lower body surgery, out 8-10 weeks.

Hoglander suffered the injury last week during a preseason game against the Seattle Kraken.

The 24-year-old struggled last season with the Canucks, recording eight goals and 17 assists over 72 games after putting up a career-high 24 goals and 12 assists over 80 games in 2023-24.

Over 293 career games in Vancouver, Hoglander has tallied 58 goals and 57 assists.

The Canucks selected the native of Bocktrask, Sweden in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and he is entering the first season of a three-year, $9 million contract.

Vancouver is looking for a bounce back season in 2025-26 after missing the playoffs with a 38-30-14 record last year.
