The Prince of Wales is heading to Switzerland this weekend, interrupting his family’s holidays in the name of official duty.

Prince William has been relaxing in Greece with his wife, the Princess of Wales, and their three children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.

They were said to have been staying on board a luxury yacht and cruising around Kefalonia, an island in the Ionian Sea, along with Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton, according to reports in local media.

As per royal tradition, they will spend some time at Balmoral Castle where King Charles and Queen Camilla will soon relocate to.

The royal family has been holidaying in the Scottish Highlands for decades in a traditional started by Queen Victoria.

Prince William and Kate, and their children, stay at the smaller Tam-Na-Ghar cottage, not far from Birkhall which is about a 15 minute drive from Balmoral Castle but still on the vast estate in a region known as Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire, west of Aberdeen, in the Highlands.

Prince William inherited Tam-Na-Ghar from his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother in 2002.

The Wales family are due back in Windsor in early September with the new school year beginning around September 5.

Prince George has one more year left at Lambrook, where he attends with his two siblings, before moving on to a senior institution.
