Jaxon Evans will lose his Brad Jones Racing seat at the end of the year after losing the confidence of chief sponsor SCT Logistics.

Evans made his full-time Supercars debut last year but has failed to translate his glittering Porsche and sportscar credentials into consistent results.

The Kiwi has returned just four top-10 finishes since the beginning of last year, the last of which was scored in Tasmania in May.

But Evans had nonetheless been expected to keep his seat alongside Macauley Jones, with the news coming as a twist in an already fast-moving Supercars silly season.

“I’m extremely thankful to SCT Logistics and the Smith family for the opportunity to compete full-time in Supercars,” he said.

“The experiences and lessons learnt along the journey are ones I’ll continue to carry forward throughout my career”

SCT Logistics motorsport boss Andrew Jones praised Evans’s contribution to the team.

“His ability and talent in a race car are world-class, and combined with the way he connects with people, he has played an instrumental role in the progress that SCT Motorsport has made during his time as part of the team,” he said.

“On behalf of everyone within our group, I’d like to express our gratitude to Jaxon. We hope to see him on the Supercars grid again and genuinely wish him all the best”

The shock news opens up a plum drive in a Toyota Supra for the Japanese marque’s first season in the sport. BJR is the only team other than homologation squad Walkinshaw Andretti Untied to be backed by Toyota next year.

Evans arrived in Supercars with French and Australian Porsche Carrera Cup titles as well as high championship finishes in Porsche Supercup, the World Endurance Championships and the Australian Endurance Championship.

His last two Supercars campaigns have seen him compete in parallel in the GT World Challenge Australia series. He finished third in last year’s standings behind Chaz Mostert and Will Brown led entries, and he leads the standings this season.

But he couldn’t convert that glittering CV into performance in the Supercars series, albeit he’s had the measure of teammate Macauley Jones over both his full-time campaigns over several performance metrics.

Despite being behind on points, Evans continues to lead Jones in key statistics this season.

BJR has confirmed that Jones, son of owner Brad Jones Racing, will continue with the team next season alongside Andre Heimgartner and Cam Hill in the leading garage.

The announcement of Evans’s impending exit confirms the number of available seats on the 2026 grid to be between seven and eight, depending on whether the contracted Nick Percat is dropped from Matt Stone Racing, as has been heavily rumoured.

David Reynolds, however, is confident he will be retained at Team 18, taking one seat off the table.

Aaron Cameron is also tipped to retain his seat at Blanchard Racing Team alongside newcomer James Golding.

PremiAir is poised to take an all-new line-up of Jayden Ojeda and Declan Fraser into next season, while speculation suggests Erebus will promote either Jobe Stewart or Jarrod Hughes to replace Jack Le Brocq, who is rumoured to be in line for one of MSR’s seats.

Evans’s departure follows news that BJR has also dropped Bryce Fullwood for next year. The Territorian is on the market, and both his and Evans’s best shot at remaining on the grid is with the other MSR seat.
