Celebrate a Duke staff or faculty member who lives Duke’s values and bleeds Duke blue by nominating them to be the Employee Captain for Duke Football’s Employee Appreciation Game.

As part of the Duke Football Employee Appreciation Game on Nov. 15, one Duke University or Duke University Health System staff or faculty member will be selected to serve as the 2025 Employee Captain.

Nominate yourself or a colleague who is a Duke Football fan and practices Duke’s core values of respect, trust, inclusion, discovery and excellence.

The Employee Captain will be celebrated with:

A Duke Football T-shirt

An on-field pre-game pass for a limited time

A behind-the-scenes seat at one of Coach Manny Diaz’s press conferences (as an observer)

A professional game-day photo

Serious bragging rights!

Gwen Lloyd, an Administrative Coordinator in Duke Student Affairs, served as the Employee Captain for the game in 2023. As a lifelong Duke fan, Lloyd said she was thrilled to experience the game day excitement up close.

“It meant a lot,” said Lloyd, who’s worked at Duke for 43 years. “It’s nice to be recognized. When you work at a place for many years, you learn a lot. You grow and develop. You build a real connection. So I’m proud of where I work.”

The deadline for nominations is 12 p.m. on Oct. 15. The winner will be announced on Working@Duke the week of Nov. 3.
