At 22 years of age – turning 23 on the eve of her 50th game – Hill becomes just the fifth Carlton AFLW player to reach 50 games.
As one of the youngest AFLW players to reach the milestone, Hill’s journey to 50 games has been a display of persistence and growth, having to navigate injuries, leadership and step-in captaincies.Â
Taken at Pick 12 in the 2020 AFLW Draft, Hill walked through the doors of IKON Park having already captured the attention of selectors and spectators at a state level. In her bottom-age year of 2019, Hill was selected to represent Vic Metro following stellar form over her NAB League career, before finding her home in the Navy Blue.
At the time of Hill being drafted, she was praised for her natural leadership qualities and immaculate craft around stoppages – assets that have held her in good stead over the last four seasons at Carlton.Â
But Hill’s AFLW career hit a speed bump just six weeks into her debut season, when she ruptured her ACL, sidelining her for the remainder of the 2021 season.
Despite the injury, Hill went on to win Best First Year Player later that year, before making an inspiring comeback in 2022 to win the AFLW Rising Star, and Club Best and Fairest.
2022’s season six saw Hill bank 20 or more disposals every week, particularly a stand out in her stellar Round 1 return against Collingwood, where she had 26 disposals, two clearances and two tackles.Â
Hill was then elected as co-vice captain, alongside Abbie McKay, the following year. Taking the field as a 21-year-old co-vice captain, the clean and classy midfielder also had the opportunity to experience being a step-in captain, and still holds the title of co-vice captain in 2025.
Leading from the front, Hill has played a huge role in Carlton’s strong 2025 campaign so far, averaging 22.7 disposals, four tackles and four clearances, with no signs of slowing down as the season approaches its pointy end.
The one Club player will run out for the 50th time in Navy Blue against Geelong this Sunday, as the Blues hunt for their sixth win of the season.
