Jackson LaCombe’s future is with the Anaheim Ducks.
The team signed the 24-year-old blueliner to an eight-year extension on Thursday.
A native of Eden Prairie, MN, LaCombe had a breakout campaign in 2024-2025, his third in the NHL and second full season.
In 75 games, LaCombe had 14 goals and 29 assists, averaging 22:18 of ice time a night.
“We are excited to sign Jackson to a long-term contract and lock up a core player for our future,” said Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek said in a statement. “Getting this deal done early was a priority for us. Jackson has all of the tools to be an anchor on our back end for many years to come.”
The deal is the second significant signing for the Ducks in recent days with centre Mason McTavish inking a six-year extension on Sept. 27.
LaCombe will play in the final year of a two-year, $1.85 million deal this season with the extension set to kick in next season. LaCombe was to be a restricted free agent at season’s end.
Originally taken with the 39th overall selection of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft out of Shattuck-St. Mary’s, LaCombe has appeared in 148 games over three seasons. He has 16 goals and 44 assists, averaging 20:51 of ice time.
Internationally, LaCombe has represented the United States on two occasions and walked away with a gold medal both times. LaCombe was part of winning efforts at both the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton and this past spring’s IIHF World Championship in Sweden and Denmark. LaCombe had two goals and three assists in 10 games in the latter tournament.
The Ducks open their 2025-2026 season on Oct. 9 with a visit to the Seattle Kraken.
