Charles Leclerc will be eager to move past the upcoming seven Formula 1 races and get to work on the 2026 season.

For Ferrari, this year is a write-off. Their car hasn’t led them to any victories, and their drivers have had a bit of a tough time. Despite the adversity, they still have a chance of finishing second in the constructors’ championship.

They’re just four points behind Mercedes arriving at the Singapore Grand Prix, which has been a fairly happy hunting ground for them in recent years. Leclerc himself has finished in the top five every time he has competed there for Ferrari, and finished in the points with Sauber in 2018.

Leclerc is benefiting from Lewis Hamilton and the knowledge he has contributed to their operation since moving across from Mercedes. In fact, not long ago, Leclerc said Hamilton brought ‘magic’ to the team, and there’s hope that it will really start to take effect from the start of the 2026 F1 regulations.

While Ferrari are unsure of a 2025 solution and whether it has made life any easier for either of their two drivers, they are just over two months from being able to wave goodbye to the SF25 for good. A winter gamble to change car concept didn’t pay off, and they should learn from it.

With every weekend that passes, Leclerc’s confidence in Ferrari is ‘wavering’ and his trust in their ability to manage a victory this year is disappearing. With an intense title fight between the McLaren drivers at the front and Max Verstappen chiming in, it’s hard to see a Scuderia driver getting ahead of them.

As Leclerc’s camp has ‘approached’ Red Bull, the Monegasque driver has now clarified to The Athletic how he wants to be able to look back on his time with Ferrari when it comes to an end one day.

“What I want really is to have zero regrets, looking back, that I’ve done absolutely everything in order to achieve that,” he said. “Whether I’ll achieve it or not, I don’t know. I cannot control everything. But I know that at least whatever I have in my control, I’ll try and be at my maximum.”

In year one of what could be a two or three-year deal, Hamilton has had to adjust to a new team, car, and way of life.

Ferrari is Leclerc’s team, and he has been raised in their environment. 2025 is his seventh consecutive season, and that was always going to give him an edge in the first 12 months.

In qualifying, Leclerc has a 13-4 lead over Hamilton, meaning that he has already secured the victory for the season.

In race trim, it’s 12-3 in his favour, meaning that overall, he has held a pretty comprehensive lead. In 2026, Leclerc will want to maintain that sort of gap, and if he does, he could be fighting for the drivers’ title.
