BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes women’s tennis team travels to BYU to continue fall competition at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships, beginning next Tuesday.
After two weeks off from competition, all nine student-athletes will compete for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships later this year, with three starting in the qualification draw and the remaining six placed in the main draw.
With the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships being held in the fall, the two singles finalists and the doubles champion from each region will earn their bid to the Individual Championships, November 18-23.
“Regional’s is an important tournament for our individuals in the fall. It’s an opportunity for singles and doubles to get into the NCAA tournament,” said head coach Anthony Pham, “I know they’re excited. We have high expectations for our athletes, and we are ready to go and compete.”
Last year at the regional tournament, Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo made history as the first ITA Mountain Region doubles champions in program history. The duo went 6-0 on the week, despite being unseeded entering the tournament.
Competition begins next Tuesday, October 7th, and opening draws will be released this Saturday. Draws and live updates can be found at wearecollegetennis.com.
