The NHL season is rapidly approaching, which means roster tinkering is in full effect.
The Ottawa Senators added some depth on Friday, acquiring veteran enforcer Kurtis MacDermid from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Zack MacEwen, the teams announced.
MacDermid, 31, is set to enter his ninth NHL season after starting his career as an undrafted player with the Los Angeles Kings in 2017. He spent four seasons with LA before 2.5 seasons with the Colorado Avalanche and 1.5 seasons with the Devils.
Through 288 career games, MacDermid has totalled 11 goals and 31 points to go with 391 penalty minutes.
MacEwen enters his eighth NHL season, now with New Jersey, after spending the last two years with the Ottawa Senators. In 21 games last season, the 29-year-old posted two goals and 3 points.
Over his 237-game career with the Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Kings and Senators, MacEwen has racked up 17 goals and 17 assists with 323 penalty minutes.
