Solomona Faataape’s time at Wests Tigers is officially coming to a close, with the young centre informing the club of his intention to depart at the end of the season ahead of a likely move to the Super League.
The 24-year-old is expected to join French outfit Catalans Dragons in 2026, as part of a growing list of NRL players heading to the south of France.

While no deal has been formally inked, his manager Kif Chowdhury confirmed that Faataape’s next destination is effectively locked in.
“We’ve finalised a destination”
“We’re beyond grateful for the opportunity that the Wests Tigers have provided for Solomona Faataape,” Chowdhury told Zero Tackle. “The belief and faith shown by Benji Marshall and Shane Richardson will never be forgotten by the Faataape family.”
He added: “We’ve been working through our options and I think we’ve finalised a destination. Our priority is to give Sol a genuine platform to showcase his talent whilst continuing to develop his game as the NRL expansion teams near entry.”
Faataape has drawn interest from several overseas clubs but appears set to join Catalans alongside fellow Australian signings Toby Sexton and Zac Lipowicz. Chowdhury hinted that the Super League move could serve as a springboard back to the NRL.
“A move to the Super League for a year or two would strongly benefit him. I hear the weather is nicer over in the south of France.”
