National Hockey League players are back at the Olympic Winter Games this season, and the 12 participating national teams at Milano Cortina 2026 named the first six players to their preliminary rosters in June.

Team USA named Jack Eichel (Vegas Golden Knights), Quinn Hughes (Vancouver Canucks), Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs), Charlie McAvoy (Boston Bruins), and brothers Brady Tkachuk (Ottawa Senators) and Matthew Tkachuk (Florida Panthers) as the first six players on their preliminary Olympic roster.

Three of them — Hughes, Matthews, and Brady Tkachuk — also serve as captains of their NHL teams and will be in the conversation to wear the ‘C’ for Team USA in Milano Cortina.
