Zeljko Obradovic: We didn't play defense, we didn’t contest a single shot

Zeljko Obradovic’s squad opened the new EuroLeague season with an away game against Dubai at the ‘Coca Cola’ Arena.

Dubai defeated Partizan after a truly dominant performance, with a final score of 89-76. After the game, Partizan coach Zeljko Obradovic said:

“Congratulations to Dubai, they were better tonight. It was obvious we didn’t play defense in the first half. We changed that in the second half and it showed immediately, but then it slipped again. In the final minutes we showed more aggression and some pride, which was a positive,” Zeljko Obradovic said at the start of the press conference, adding:

“We don’t have time. We’re traveling back to Belgrade and the next game is already on Thursday. The players know the problem was a lack of aggression and poor decisions on offense. The only positive was our offensive rebounding.”

The hosts opened the game incredibly, hitting seven threes out of seven attempts.

“In the first quarter it was 6/6. We didn’t play defense. We didn’t contest a single shot with raised hands, they were shooting like in practice. Some things we set up just didn’t happen. That’s how it is. There’s no time for too much analysis. Our first home game is coming up,” Obradovic concluded.
