Here we go. NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reports that other teams around the NFL are gauging interest in trades for some of the New Orleans Saints‘ veteran players. With the trade deadline just one month away on Nov. 4, Underhill adds that “There’s a feeling around the league that New Orleans will be open to hearing offers in the coming weeks.”
This was something we anticipated after the Saints’ 0-4 start. Their team isn’t built to compete for a Super Bowl. In Year 1 of a rebuild, it’s more important that they identify which young players are part of their future and which established pros they could flip for draft picks than pay expensive contract extensions. New Orleans owns just five picks in the 2026 draft after trading for wide receiver Devaughn Vele (costing a fourth rounder) and nose tackle Davon Godchaux (a seventh-round pick), so this is an opportunity to restock the war chest.

We’ve already identified four players on offense and four more on defense who could be traded (along with potential team fits and trade packages), but the better question may be who isn’t available. Guys like Alvin Kamara, Demario Davis, and Cameron Jordan each want to be lifers with the Saints, and they aren’t likely to bring back more than a sixth or seventh rounder anyway. It’s worth holding onto those guys to let them close out their careers on their turns than to trade them for late-round lottery scratch-offs. But if one or more of them wants out, this could be an opportunity for the Saints to do right by the player and get back a pick or two. Falling to 0-5 against the New York Giants on Sunday would probably lead to some phone calls.
