Tony Ferguson was an MMA fan favourite before his move over to the boxing world this August.

One of his last fights in the Dana White-led promotion saw him lose by decision to Paddy Pimblett.

The former UFC star has decided to switch to Misfits Boxing, where he will face Salt Papi in his professional debut.

But questions about his career in mixed martial arts have arisen, including about his rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Tony Ferguson blasts Khabib Nurmagomedov for never fighting him, says he will ‘disarm him’

Ferguson still holds an ill feeling towards the undefeated legend for never stepping in the octagon with him.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, he said: “I f- – -ing disarm that b- – – -d put it back on and be like let’s play a game.

“I don’t have anything else I would fight him in MMA, I’m not going to box him, I’ll play you in chess, I’m going to kick your a– anyway.

“I’m smarter than you dude, and you’re a smart guy because your pops told you not to fight me.”

Khabib vs Ferguson was cancelled for the final time on April 18th 2020 because of the pandemic, and was cancelled four times previously.

The American was supremely confident about his chances if the pair had squared off that year.

He said: “No disrespect on that one but he didn’t want his son to turn out to look like any of the other opponents that I churned out bloody because I had his number that fight.”

Tony Ferguson ready to prove the doubters wrong in Misfits debut

August 30th for ‘El Cucuy’ presents an altogether different challenge, having boxed only when he was younger, the star is now looking for a win after losing eight consecutive UFC bouts.

Some fans believe the legend should just finish his career instead of facing Nathaniel Bustamante (AKA Salt Papi), but that’s not on the cards for him.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, he said: “Ninety percent of the f- – -ing comments out there are saying that I’m washed up, I’m old, and I should f- – -ing retire and all this other bulls- – -.

“The other 20% is saying that ‘Salt Papi’ is going to knock me out. So 100% of you b- – – -es are out there hating on me. You know what? That’s more fuel for my fire.”

Bustamante holds a 4-2 (4 KOs) record in Misfits pro boxing and will be looking to add the huge name of Ferguson to that resume.
