As Scheffler sent a picture-perfect approach shot sailing toward the hole on the 17th during the first round of the tournament, one attendee at Royal Portrush Golf Club passed some gas – very loudly.
The broadcast picked up the noise for the world to hear, and the commentators couldn’t get over the ridiculous moment.
As the fart noise reverberated, play-by-play announcer Andrew Cotter simply said, “Oh,” before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.

“What are you laughing about, Andrew?” the co-commentator prodded, laughing.
“There’s so much to say about that shot,” Cotter replied, as the pair continued to giggle. “That’s extraordinary. Let’s stick to the golf.”
The co-commentator couldn’t help but make one more quip: “Just a little bit of wind from behind.”

Scheffler, the world No. 1 entering the British Open, finished his first round at 3-under par.
For Scheffler, perhaps the moment will be a nice way to lighten up after his philosophical comments stirred buzz ahead of the tournament.“There’s a lot of people that make it to what they thought was going to fulfil them in life, and you get there, you get to No. 1 in the world, and they’re like, what’s the point?” Scheffler said in the vulnerable moment on Tuesday. “I really do believe that. Because what is the point? Why do I want to win this tournament so bad?”
