HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Vanderbilt women’s golf claimed the Ron Moore Intercollegiate title at the University of Denver Golf Club, closing with a 6-under-par final round on Sunday. The Commodores finished the 54-hole event at 24-under par, 13 strokes ahead of runner-ups Colorado and Texas State. Freshman Elizabeth Rudisill captured the individual title in just her third Vanderbilt start.
“I’m really proud of our girls for putting together an impressive weekend,” head coach Greg Allen said. “They came ready to play and competed at a very high level. Today ended up being another really good test as the hole locations were pretty tough and the wind picked up again midway through the round, but the girls handled it well.”
Rudisill carded a 4-under 68 on Sunday to finish 10-under overall and take the individual crown. The freshman led the field in total birdies with 15, and also paced the weekend in par-4 scoring average.
“I’m so happy for Rudy,” Allen said. “She played really great golf this week and it was nice to see her get the win.”
Ava Merrill tied for runner-up at 9-under par. The junior notched a 2-under-par 70 in a final round that included five birdies. Merrill has now placed runner-up in consecutive tournaments and earned her fifth career top five finish. Both Rudisill and Merrill shot under par in all three rounds of the weekend.
Competing as an individual, Angelina Tolentino went 6-under at the event and finished in fourth place off a 3-under-par Sunday round.
“Ava is so close to breaking through for a win,” Allen said. “She is doing all the right things and it’s only a matter of time. I’m really impressed with Angelina continuing to play at a high level. She’s doing everything we ask her to do.”
Kathryn Ha and Lynn Lim each wrapped up their weekends with even-par final rounds. Lim tied for ninth while Ha finished in 20th individually. Tillie Claggett tied for 21st with a 73 on Sunday.
Vanderbilt led the tournament in eagles with four total and ranked inside the top four teams in all statistical categories. This win is the program’s second at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, with the first victory coming in 2022. The victory also marks the first back-to-back wins for the Dores since February 2019 and the first season with multiple fall victories since 2014.
Vanderbilt returns to the course October 20-22 at The Ally in West Point, Mississippi.
