We are delighted to announce that local artist Sarah Corkill has a new rhyming storybook filled with her illustrations which is out now – an idea gift for Christmas!

The Shrewsbury Fox’s Great Adventure follows Furlin Fox as he explores the beautiful sights of our town with his friends, Owl and Hedgehog.

Sarah has been painting Shrewsbury scenes for a while now and always included a little fox in her work. Sarah’s sister suggested the idea for the book after seeing this fox theme.

As Sarah explains:

“I love adding animals to my paintings, bringing a touch of life and storytelling to each scene. My work is inspired by the timeless art of Beatrix Potter, and classics such as Brambly hedge, Winnie the Pooh and Paddington Bear.

“The fox, owl and hedgehog add a sense of playfulness, magic and mischief to my artwork. Whenever I painted the fox, people would comment on how much they loved him – so I kept including him. Now it feels strange to paint a scene without him there.”

Furlin was named by Sarah’s daughter, who also helped write the story and imagine what his home inside his burrow might look like. They even took a trip to the Shrewsbury Dingle and chose the tree where Furlin lives!
